Cleaned out after Paris, I'm afraid. Still, plenty of new stuff to listen to.

How is the fair different in April? If at all?

    Is it smaller?

Have been a few times for the November fair but a bit bored of the same sellers now...

It's fairly much the same size wise... crowd can be a bit different... fewer of the VG+ guys...

Warmer weather wise than November ;-)

    I'm going. Very excited

    Question:
I guess people take a wedge of Euros with them, rather than buying over there?
If so, i'd better purchase quickly before the pound goes tits up (again)!

I'm fairly sure that's what Craig, Nige, Lee and Andy D go for... gives you a chance to shop around a bit...

I've seen well odd rates at airports and in town recently...

Certainly worth shopping around and getting a good deal here before you go, otherwise you'll be at the mercy of local exchange rates.

Use a currency card as you can load up at a set rate and then use local ATM's, instead of carrying a load of cash over.

Edit... if you've not been, as well as the amazing record fair, Utrecht is lovely. Really liked it.

Last summer while in Amsterdam we took a train down to Utrecht. THERE'S A BLOODY GREAT FLYING SAUCER CRASHED INTO THE TOP OF A BUILDING THERE!!!!!!! Why did nobody mention this before? Went to some of the worst record shops I've been to in Holland too. Very pretty in the old part of town.

The shops in Utrecht are not what they used to be, especially with Da Capo closed. I've heard antique shops are doing a roaring trade in vinyl thanks to the sheer number of students in the city, but its all Fleetwood Mac and Bridge Over Troubled Water. The flying saucer is on a fantastic building known as the Inktpot (inkpot), close to the train station, currently the headquarters of the train company I think. More photos on the wikipedia page:

I spend most of my time in Amsterdam tracking down Amsterdam School architecture. How times have changed!

I'm going back (only for Saturday though) and always try to explore utrecht at the same time - theres a couple of craft beer places that have cropped up that I will be checking out this time.

Also- anyone looking for digs..... The one and only hostel in utrecht opened last year and it is rather nice...nice modern interior, etc

I Stayed in November and there was quite a few other diggers staying there also so it was good to go through finds with others in the hostel bar in the evening.

I've seen loads of Utrecht now. The tourist video on the hotel TV. Watching TV at home when the TDF started there in recent years and that TV train show with Michael Portillo when he visited there.

Who needs to wander round the city when I've seen so much of it via the TV.

Everyone who goes have a good time. Wish I could afford it twice a year.

Does the fair have considerable stands/sellers devoted to late 80ies to early/mid-90ies indie/random rap? If Id consider checking it out this year (only a few hours by car/train for me) Id probably need to (or at least try to) focus on one genre judging by the sheer size of the fair from what Ive read here and elsewhere..

There isn't any dedicated stalls for that period of hip hop. Obviously you get the odd box with 12s from that period, specifically in the aisle specialising in black music. DJ Friendly and a couple of others will have a box with that period included. There's a German stall that has a large amount of hip hop across all periods (cheap as well) but they do tend to be the more common titles. Good luck.

Is there actually an easy way to put pics on this site from your phone, or does one always have to use an image hosting site?

BTW, is there anybody who knows who the guy with the poster exhibition and the Beatles Sgt Peppers costumes was?

Asked for his card so I could send him an email, but lost it ... He was from the UK and normally has a stand at the fair ...

    Any info would be appreciated.
