HF&S Thurs April 14: Beaver, Vegas & Res

Thursday April 14. DJs Nick.C and guests: Peter Beaver, John Vegas & Mark Res (Resolution Records & selling only)

    Hot, Funky & Sweaty
Every Thursday, Salmon & Compass, 58 Penton St, Angel N1 9PZ
    8pm – 2am. £2 (£3/band). More info: 020 7837 3891.

Mark Res was one of the UK's biggest rare record dealers until January this year. He's semi-retired from that game now, but will have a couple of boxes of nice pieces to sell, should you be craving for some rare wax. This is a try-out to see if selling 45s down HF&S is a good idea or not.

Pete Beaver and John Vegas are simply men of impeccable taste. Any stupidly hard to find, price of a small country 45 you can think of, they would've just spun it and moved on to the next prize...

Please note that the next scheduled HF&S will be May 19, as the Salmon & Compass will closed to finish structural work. All shows cancelled (Andy Votel, Poets of Rhythm etc) will be re-scheduled.

Nick, does this mean the 'Best Of' is also off ? Wasn't that due to be the night after Andy Votel ?

Phew!.. I'm just about to book a hotel within crawling distance to The Salmon for that particular Friday night!
If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

Why, matey? The roads and kerbs of Islington are particularly welcoming.

... true, but I dunno what the missus will make of them!

I thought you lived in London now, Sie? You just don't want to deal with buses and cabs, pished at 2am right?

Not exactly London Nick - I'm in Royston ( ), sunny Hertfordshire, not far from Hadrian Elephant and Rich Hero...

... plus I promised the missus a day out in London on the Saturday, so we're gonna find a hotel in Islington on the Friday to rest our Staropramen and Sambuka sozzled heads...

haha! I can't remember the 45 minute taxi ride back to E-Man's place after he and I DJ'ed HF&S last year - that was Serm's and Doko's fault for buying me loads of black gloop drinks!

You can usually get a decent rate at the Holiday Inn Express on Old St. I stayed there with kat for two nights the other week and it came to £80, (wasn't a Friday though) believe it or not. Just remember to get tough on the phone...

But if you want real nearby action, try the Jurys hotel on Pentonville - literally around the corner.

                        I'm going to this.

Will there be any other VVers attending?

                        Cheers.

Ps. took me a while to find this thread. Why isn't it in the Events section?
