i love that madkap lp! they did do some more stuff after the first lp, i think some of it may have been under the name madkap but they definately did some stuff late 90's under a different name....i'll try and post something a bit less vague when i've actually woken upOriginally Posted by Blighty

Dropped into one Sunday 2.00pm booter with my mate George and I got an "Escape From The Planet Of The Apes" 1974 US comic book that came with a 45 of the story... nice.
.. and that was it for me. I did go through a load of stuff and pulled out Johnny Harris "Movements" (UK WB orange label) and Elaine Delmar "Sneakin' Up On You" LP (UK CBS).. gave them to George like...
.. also, he picked out an Ivor Raymonde "Real Thing" 45.. so all in all, the youngster had a very good day i reckon!

"Sometimes I get a hot ear..."
I managed to drag myself out yesterday morning, despite still carrying the after-effects of Glastonbury in the form of a minging throat infection.
I went up to a local(ish) booter and found that a well-known Nottingham dealer had added this one to his itinerary (well, I've had it to myself for 2 years, so I can't complain). I was surprised by his conduct cos he's a sweetheart when you see him at the Nottingham Record Fair, but was acting like a right animal in this 'competitive' environment. Pushed me out of the way, acting all macho - I just found it funny. End of the day it's his livelihood, but just a bit of a laugh for me. One seller was talking to me, telling me he'd got some more in the car, got them out for me and dealer goes "I'll have those!" with outstretched hand! I just smiled and let him go for it. He was employing 'slash and burn' tactics, buying anything and everything that looked remotely collectable. Shame really, but it's a free country and just marks yet more of a loss of innocence for these humble rural booters and jumble sales.
Anyway, I still pulled out a few cheapies so I ain't fussed (all mint condition and apparently the 'shite' from a collection this guy had recently bought!!):
Tears for Fears - I Believe 12" (Got this for the 2 'Shout' remixes, which actually aren't all that)
I-Level - Shake LP (I vaguely remembered 'In The Sand' being nice - it is)
Towson State College Jazz Ensemble - 2 + 2 = 5 LP (bit too 'big band' for my tastes, but 'Bread and Watrous' rocks it on that 'Cop Show' angle)
Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam - Let The Beat Hit 'Em 12" (reminds me of happy days jumping about with some of the girls from Uni)
London Rhyme Sindicate - S/T 12" (UK HipHop. Not my thing at all. Will be punted on ASAP!)
Anne Murray - Snowbird LP (great drums on 'PYHITH', one of the better versions)
BBC TV Sporting Themes LP (Can't resist picking this up for cheap, still get goosebumps on hearing 'Heavy Action' and 'Chase Side Shoot Up' just reminds me of how my teeth will grind when I hear the new, shit, version when The Open tees off later this month)
Chic - C'est Chic LP (Classic LP. Genius songwriters. Poor old Luther on backing vocals)
Chic - Risque LP (God I love Chic. 'My Forbidden Lover' - amazing!)
Chic - Real People LP ('Open Up' is such an underrated tune!)
Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On LP (Speaking of geniuses....)
Curtis Mayfield - Roots LP (with the calendar cover intact. You can't mess with Curtis. Tune after tune)
Jacksons - Enjoy Yourself 12" (I know, I know. Fiddler on the youth. Hearing his vocals on this just makes you sad at what he's become, if pure 'joy' could make a sound, it would be just like his "Woooah-ohhh-hey-hey" as this tune goes for it near the end. Sad.)
Crosby, Stills and Nash - S/T LP ('Marrakesh Express' is one of my Mum's faves! And 'Long Time Gone' reminds me of the Woodstock film and makes me wonder what happened to Galliano!).
Not bad for a few quid, but I'm troubled by thoughts of what that cheeky dealer beat me to!!
If you will suck my soul, I will lick your funky emotions.
Went to my local haunt. Got a few bits.
IM 19 Library - Can't remember what its called. Its a wonky one. Not bad for £4.
Osibisa - Happy Children - Their 4th record and its pretty good afro-rock. Some great grooves here and there. Whats their 3rd lp like? Never seen this.
Can't remember the name of the last one - Its a trinidad private press on gemini records. Lots of west indian soul and one 8minute funky carribbean jam. Pretty cool.
trini thing sounds interesting, try and remember please...
I'll put a photo up tonight. It might be something you would want more than me to be honest. I only picked it up cos it looked cool on spec.
good attitude to adopt mate but i still would've told him he was a prick....anyone who acts like that and takes it that seriously is basically an arse and should be told as much....just makes the whole bootie thing into a stress...which is the last thing you want first thing on a sunday morn...Originally Posted by Benicio Del Toffo
Hobbled along to the boot sale at about 11:50 hoping there was nothing there 'cause I needed all my $$$$ for a big Ebay purchase / sending out stuff I've sold. . .unfortunately I had to drop a fiver on this lot:
Coldcut - 1st LP - WITH the grand free "More Beats & Pieces" EP
Atomic Rooster - Devil's Answer / The Rock 7" - break-tastic b-side
The Jacksons - The Jacksons S/T (1976) - another one for the trades pile. .
Tomita - Cosmos - the "will take this to the MVE eventually" pile grows another 0.5cm taller.
Johnny Gregory and some toff narrators - a kiddie "learn multiplication" 7" from 1960 with Johnny Gregory providing some "nice" jazz arrangements in the background. Multiplication rock it ain't, but it's still screaming to be sampled.
Noggin the Nog - nice 7" with piccie sleeve from 1963 - on red wax!
Rufus / Chaka Khan - You got the Love / Rags to Rufus 7" - interesting moog wibbling on the flip!
(Jaques) Higelin - BBH - the cover of this looked rather dodgy, but very glad I took a chance on it. . . couple of nice funky French rock tracks, "Mona Lisa Klaxon" and err "Oesophagie Boogie Cardiac" or whatever. Break on the 2nd one. Not that I care about breaks. Honest.
Some samples on Amazon here. . .http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...25712?v=glance
Looks like fromage but those 2 cuts are rather good. . .![]()
Didn’t do well at the bootsale this week.
Just picked up Kool Moe Dee ‘Wild wild west/How ya like me now’ on 7”.
I like hip hop 7’s with pic sleeves, I’m starting to pick them up now if their cheap (and they usually are).
Agreed - the late 80's / early 90's stuff on UK 45 with pic sleeves are in abundance at booters at the mo.. and as correctly pointed out on another thread, they are usually better pressed than the LP tracks! hurrah!Originally Posted by Parkz

Great LP that, need an original myself...one of these days.Originally Posted by BoneyVotel
After my bumper finds last weekend it was always going to be poor.
3 records. Peters and Lee - Favourites (wanted to check this after it was mentioned a week or two ago and obviously its as common as Abba, Manilow etc) Resisted previous copies at £1.00 so 50p was about right. Nice track anyway.
Cass Elliot LP. Seen this mentioned in drum break lists so I finally got one cheap. Certainly has all the players on (Wrecking Crew) but nothing great and break is quite short.
Spats - S/T Average White Band but not as good, say no more!
Oh, and Top TV Themes - Malcolm Lockyer Orchestra today from charity.
Why am I listing this stuff?![]()
Yep, I'm quite glad I picked up those 10p Woolys cheapies now ie Big Daddy Kane - Set if Off, Biz Markie - Just a Friend and Vapours etcOriginally Posted by Sie Vulture

And if so..which track has a break? Had it for a while and STILL haven't got round to playing it....but I'm damned curious now!
Some of these recommended breaks are so bloody lame tho'... I really prefer tunesome lil' loops myself
....but no international 'never have to work again' hit material yet....
One day tho.....

1) Cos it's interesting to know what's out there!!Originally Posted by Campag Record
2) And reassuring to read that everyone else has thin weekends too...(a lot for everyone recently by the sounds of it)
3) And an inspiration when something GREAT turns up for someone (20p Dolly Catcher)...cos I think...
4)....F**king great!! The odds are shorter now on me finding something ace next weekend.
EVERY Sunday. SOMEWHERE out there. There's ....SOMETHING EXCELLENT.
(It's just often 500 miles away or already in Wayne's car)
Probably better than two stick insects - which I won in a raffle (4th prize - 1st was a giant snailWhy am I listing this stuff?).
They don't do much, do stick insects
ive noticed this to, ive been picking up quite a lot of old hip hop latleyOriginally Posted by Sie Vulture

I love that tune!
Don't call it a comeback... H, N, and the number 7.
Ok, it's a bit of a comeback, I suppose...
Found loads this weekend but not inclined to list them all. Highlights were:
Bullet "Hanged Man" Contour LP;
Lee Moses "Time and Place" Maple LP. Killer, tough soul. How this rather obsure release turned up where it did is beyond me.
T Ski Valley "Catch the Beat" 12"
Supa-Rap "Bills" 7"
Bill Moss "Sock it to Em Soul Brother" (US Bell 7"). Minty copy in original Bell bag. Quite nice for 99p from Oxfam.
Biggest disappointment was multiple copies of The Naturals "Funky Rasta" which on getting them home turn out to be a dodgy late 80s remix...
Endless Tripe
Missed this post, but I'll second that recommendation. Don't know who Alasdair Roberts is (anyone know? is he a newcomer, or an established folkie?) but the set includes a fairly mixed and interesting bunch of people like John McCusker (great Scottish fiddler & producer on all Kate Rusby's stuff...think he's her husband) and Isobel Campbell (formerly of Belle & Sebastian). If you're in a shop with a listening deck, stick on his version of 'Lyke Wake Dirge' - totally different to Pentangle's, but equally powerful in its own way...If that doesn't sell it, it's probably not for you.Originally Posted by flytipper

There's been one in Avid in Bournemouth for a fiver which I've so far resisted. Found one at a bootsale a few weeks back but it was mashed. Most disappointing. I have 'Gangsta Gangsta' and 'Express Yourself' seven inches though.Originally Posted by Sie Vulture

I don't know like 80% of the stuff you put up, but heres some stuff from the Pasadena City College Swap from last Sunday:
Modern soul finds:
picked up 2 sealed copies of that Marige Joseph if anyone is interested
Other various soul finds:
and a couple highlights:
Perfect Circle "S/T" (Inner City)
when I first started digging I was working at big B's in Las Vegas, we had a copy of this in the dollar bins and some dude bought it and let me hear what I was missing out on, 6 years later I finally have a copy for myself
John Braheny "Some Kind Of Change" (Pete)
Mellow soft psych on a small California label. think of this as relaxed bloodshitting music with a twist
The Pattersons "Dear Jesus I love You" (Birthright) - x 3
I bought my first copy of this a cople of years back and havent seen any since. Family band of Funky gospel with kids getting down in the most hard as fuck way you can for the lord. I flipped out when I found 3 sealed copies
