In Kirby Lonsdale there's a sign saying 'Burton Moor' which was amended to read 'Button Moon' for many years.

Me and the Hero must really take a photo of the "We Have Crabs" sign that we pass every time we drive to Brillo...

I was just about to add that one!

The Gilbert and George one made me laugh too. But this just a Banksy rip off...

The best I've ever seen (and I wish I had taken a photo) was a swastika scribbled backwards and then crossed over. Directly under this was a half backwards swastika also crossed over. And directly under that (on the third attempt) they finally got it right with a proper swastika.
Oh yeah - that and the one were some Swedish homies had crudely graffitied Fart Crew - "Fart" means speed or quickness in Swedish and I guess that's what they wanted to say...

As a youth I remember the sign for Super Ely near Cardiff was inevitably amended to Super Fly

In Stockport bus station there was a poster advising people to not to get run over by the buses with the slogan "LOOK SHARP" to which some cheeky monkey stuck a picture of Radio DJ Pat Sharp. made me chuckle.

In Slade Green where i used to live someone wrote CELTIC on a wall in huge letters but they got as far as the CELT when a window must of suddenly appeared and the IC was the other side. It tickled me every day for two years.

There used to be some graffiti in Portsmouth that I used to walk past almost every day. It might even still be there.... in 5 foot high letters is said....

    'Long Live The Vietcong'.

I lived nearby for a few years in the mid 90s. Just how long had it been there ? Must be a historical document by now ?

There`s a village near Stratford Upon Avon called Snitterfield.
All the road signs have been changed (very professionally) to read "Shitterfield"

Oh, almost forgot this one.... in Pontypridd, along the main drag into town (The Broadway I think it is), for a good while there was the following scrawled along the high wall below the railway line.

'All Ponty Police Are A Bunch Of Wan' then a splodge and then a huge patch of white paint on the pavement.

    The story almost told itself

The nigel rees graffiti books were the only books i ever looked at in my teens. a personal fav was a large scrawling of 'FUN-DA-MENTAL' and underneath someone had written 'mongrel gibberish' made me titter wot.

growing up with much wall scrawlings a la belfast there was for most of my formative years a massive 'BOOMSHANKA' across two houses.

    2 points for the meaning...............anyone?..............anyone?

What about the graffiti over in my parts tha spells: Graffiti is imperialistic mass-culture from USA ?
I always wonder if it's a genuine political statement with a not-thought-about twist or if it's pure irony from the start...

If you've been to Brighton you might have noticed "I STILL FEEL NORMAL" just up from the beach near the west pier. Me, 1988, tripping my proverbials off. It was still there about 3 years ago and I even saw it on a record cover once.

heh, I think it was a storage thing for deck chairs or something...I remember seeing it on some indie (?) record 6 or 7 years ago but god knows what. hope it was suitably warped.

    button moon indeed.

someone has sprayed SHIT BIN on a doggie poo bin in lancaster...it is kind of beautiful...

growing up someone daubed the slogan CHITTY WANKS on a fence near my grandma's - derek chitty was my old headmaster at primary school,a curious mix of a young adolf hitler and stephen fry..i knew who chitty was then but it was a lot of years before i knew what the other word meant.

also a great historical piece that has long since gone from lancaster city centre was THREE MILE ISLAND TODAY HEYSHAM TOMORROW all very nuclear if you ask me !!
funny how this stuff sticks in your head isn't it...

another one under a canal bridge near my house read SAM PIG, he was a local bully who i hope is now in the bottom of the canal reading his nickname for eternity.

swim with the fishes PIGGY !!
