    Default Monkees Head

Just a heads up to say that Strictly Kev (of DJ Food fame) rescored the Monkees 'Head' film a couple of years ago at the Big Chill.

And he's now made it into a DVD. Its freaking awesome. Think they cost a tenner.

Hmm, I really love this film.

I have a cheesyily-covered 80's Jap issue of the original OST if anyone wants to trade me sumfink for it.

Is this new DVD 4:3 though ?? I was a little vexed that the "remastered" Rhino DVD was not 16:9. . . hmmm.

yeah its 'pinched' off the 4x3 version. There is no widescreen issue as yet. pants that.

This is an 'unofficial' release btw.

    Aha.

    Yeh, it's fucking stupid.

Rhino did do pretty well on the extras front on that DVD though, what with about 15 trailers stuffed on there. A commentary from Rafaelson would be nice. . .

No doubt we'll have to wait until someone reissues if and remasters the bloody thing widescreen.

To paraphrase: Do I have to buy this all over again. . .didn't I do this right the first time ?!

Special score this. Made my night at the BC a few years back, esp. listening to those around me struck dumb by the excellence of the musical sequences. Madness to hear Axelrod accompanny movie action.

i've actually written an article / interview on this project for the DJ Food website although Kev is ok with it being made available elsewhere. Potential VV content anyone?

I concur with my learned friend Sermad.

Got this a few days ago and have enjoyed. DVD has the original soundtrack so you can still enjoy the Porpoise Song.

I wish I'd put that option in the menu somewhere. Sorry kids.

Shall we make a stab at the tracklisting sometime?

You just press the 'audio' button on your dvd remote and it switches audio tracks.

It was a really late addition to the dvd - like at the very last second when I mentioned it could be done! Think of it as an easter egg.

Luckily I only had to burn one copy and let Kev do the rest...I think its ltd to 200 copies.

Anyone still interested in reading my article on this project?

I don't know when it'll go up on the Food site but I thought I might make it exclusively available to you lot first

Anyone who wants a copy PM me and I'll send out a .doc file.

Cheers Serms. I felt like someone needed to be documenting this project and give it the publicity it and Kev deserved.

    Thumbs up

I received this a couple of weeks ago - yet to play it through but a quick snifter reveals Brendan Lynch's remix of Weller's 'Hung Up' where 'Porpoise Song' should be
