does anyone have any info on this colgems release from about '68? I don't know whether to buy it or not.... it's an e-dig and I can't listen to it....can anyone recommend it (or otherwise...)?

it was reissued (at least partially) on a david whitaker comp a few years back. not sure whether it's good but it's certainly a tough one to turn up, and apparently the movie was pretty good in true spy style.

most of the mid/late 60s Colgems are musically pretty damn good and very collectable so even if it's no good you can definitely get your money back unless it cost you an arm and a leg.

oh, and you know who sang the theme song presumably

not sure the roy head sounds like james brown but it's a nice lp - great version of 'let a woman be a woman, let a man be a man' on there...

both the mind garages are good too..

I've got Hammerhead (I THINK), but haven't listened
to it for years now and would have to go find it (NIGHTMARE)

I THINK it's got some good things on there (no promises tho )

I think he used to highlight a vocal (dodgy) bossa on there.

Same People (Dunhill 70)
I picked up a copy of Same People at the Sound Library. I come home and go to the KUSF record swap and this guy found 100 sealed copies in a warehouse! Anyway, Roy Head brought together all the right elements on Same People. Horns, a driving beat, his rough delivery, and some funk. The title track is a fine example of his blue-eyed soul. Did I mention the breaks? Well there are 2 incredible ones on She’s About A Mover that I know someone has used before. Nice and long open drums, followed by grunts and exhortations by Head, followed by horns, only to repeat itself shortly thereafter. One of the best drum breaks that I’ve heard in a while. Roy also does a good version of the ever-funky Dyke & The Blazers’ tune Let A Woman Be A Woman. Soul Train is also good.

I remember this being fairly sub-standard blue eyed soul, fairly similar to Dick Jensens 'White Hot Soul' album.

For what it's worth, John - I agree with Sermad.

An average outing for them, and I'ld suggest that $40 is the absolute topper most to pay for the album. Depends how long you've been after it.

I have one and would probably trade it if you'ld rather - a solid 45 or something.
