Default What happened to Blow Fly?

I've just caught an og Blow FLY LP called 'oldies but goodies' ww - 2026
    - This guy was a full power freak with a nice ensemble of cheap assed leotards...Musically Blow Fly's potty mouth lyrics murder old standards as he plays out his perversities on wax -

Is this guy still alive? anyone interested in hunting the man or the headstone? PM me

He's nowhere near dead. You could probably find his most recent CD in Tower records or the other chain stores in England. Still putting out music in the same vein as the older stuff. He doesn't get as much exposure now because a 30+ guy telling filthy rapped stories is so common now (Eminem, Luther campbell, Akinyele, Slick Rick etc.)

Blowfly had a lot of strings to his bow as a producer as well, apparently, producing the same smooth-sounding disco stuff for other people.

Clarence Reid was writing, producing and performing soul and funk music with fair success years before his incarnation as filthy old Blowfly. He had a very strong relationship with the Alston and TK labels, and you'll find his writing and production credits on much of those labels' output. See here:

it is written in "blowfly - where they at?", that he was chiefly responsible for the idea of Hyman Jihad, I "discovered" 'em when Freakpower sampled them way before Jurassic 5.
