    Default 'New' Music Questions....

A couple of stupid questions owing I don't know anything about any hip new sounds that you youngsters might be swingin' to at your discotheques.

I was at a resturant last Friday night and over the clatter of plates and the utterly deafening conversation of nearby tables I heard a couple of things playing in the background that made my ears prick up. Not literally obviously. With that sort of talent I would be in the circus.

    1) What sounded like a female vocal version of Oran 'Juice' Jones 'The Rain'. If this is the case, has the talkie but been retained ? Please say it is so. Trix are still for kids, after all.

    2) What sounded like Christine Perfect's 'And That's Saying Alot', but much longer and with slightly different vocals. This could of course *be* the original being played twice and over clattering plates.

So, can anyone help this old man out with some info ?

This is probably the cover version by Si*Se on Luaka Bop Records. Can't remember a talkie bit in it but I don't have the original, only the Funky Lowlives remix. There's a short soundclip of the original here http://www.triphop-music.com/sise/band.htm

I have both (Col's fault) so I shall check. If I remember. Should we rename this thread 'Tunes Colin's put us up on (Hero's only)'?

Dunno if it's the one, but there's a long, slow ersion of the tune by a Japanese duo called Natural Calamity (came out on one of those Bungalow type labels, maybe Ideal, around 1999/2000). It's a slow, sort of trip-hoppy take on the tune, and I think it was comped by Groove Armada around the time as well.

EDIT - here's the LP in question http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...0:jor9287y055a

Well, I needed something to draw you into this thread. 'Cos it wouldn't be knowing the answer to Matt's question, would it?
