Shipping costs all over the world

I would like to compare shipping prices for LPs to see how high Swedish postage rates are. The cheapest possible shipping is to send as a letter, uninsured etcetrera. The rates in Sweden are:

Inside Europe:

Weight up to 250 grams - $6,5
Up to 500 grams - $10,5
Up to 1000 grams - $18
Up to 2000 grams - $28

Outside Europe:

Weight up to 250 grams - $8
Up to 500 grams - $12
Up to 1000 grams - $21
Up to 2000 grams - $32


These are approximate proces in dollars - I feel like they are higher than many other countries including for example UK and US, but maybe I'm wrong?

You should be able to find shipping rates on postal websites of various places to make your comparisms. I imagine since it's all based on weight, that they all won't be much different from each other...

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a broad question too:

What's the best way to send a package from the UK to outside the UK with insurance? Actually insurance inside the UK would be good too. It's just that I don't see any services that specifically advertise insurance, just that some come with it - so I was wondering if there's a particular service that's quick to use etc, plus any pitfalls to avoid... thanks
