Is the track listing knocking about?

I must get to the bottom of this 'funk rock' schtuff. What it is and what it isn't, like.

Funk rock can sometimes be a useful 'emotion'. For instance, let's say you're an astronaught on the moon and you fear that your partner has been turned into Dracula. The next time he goes out for the moon pieces, wham!, you just slam the door behind him and blast off. He might call you on the radio and say he's not Dracula, but you just say, "Think again, bat man."

    thats funk rock that is.

    Now about my tape.....
Well, a few people I know care, cos as with the conversation I had last night with my mate, a blanket sweeping statement of 'this is funky rock' when it quite blatantly isn't remotely funk based, is misleading to the point of 'What is funk rock, then?'

That tracklisting contains what I would call funk rock, deffo.......but still that list contains some misleading titles.

I guess it's like a funk night in general. You want to put on a night of quality funk 45's yet you put 'funk' on the flyer and you get punters expecting James Brown and Stevie Wonder all night. It puts you right off using 'Funk' on yer advertising and yer pigeon holes.

Even though I own a lot of what I guess could be called 'funk rock', I think it's a term best left alone, from my point of view at any rate. .

i must say that i do on occasion feel your frustration G. All too oft these terms get used and indeed abused by many. Its like me and the mrs were scootin along the coast this one time and there was a sign that said 'watch for rocks' and debs said it should read 'watch for funk rocks' I told her she should write in her suggestion to the dept of environment road service, but she started saying it was a joke - just to get out of writing a simple letter! And I thought I was lazy! anyway i know all too well what you mean.

bring lots of funk rock to belfast we loves it.

Yeah but i'd also include rock/psych with killer drum breaks too...but lets not even go there eh?
Like i say what's hiphop?even Funk in certain circles includes raw early 60's R+B...I know it can put people off defining genres but we just all have to get past that....it's just music after all

Cool! So like most pigeon holes, it's just a term of convenience rather than a reference to what the music actually might be. Smashin' !

Ooo, and alack, Sarge - I can't make the Belfast beano. Otherwise......nicely!
