You guys ever thought about banding together and not bidding against each other? It seems a bit daft bidding on something when you know each other. I also Soul Fiend there, too. Is that Andy, who comes on here?Originally Posted by [b

Yeah, fair enough, it's rare, but you're just giving the guy more money than it would go for normally by doing that. It just seems like macho posturing to bid against each other like that. I mean, it's only a fucking recordOriginally Posted by [b

Yeah, I agree that we others on the board should back off. Seeing as I saw Serms bid, I decided it would be tight to bid against him (seeing as he always sorts me out too).
There is a danger that we might all turn a little Deepfunk if we start waving our earnings in each other's faces! Keep checking the charities etc., one will turn up. Didn't someone on this board find one in Scotland recently. Aren't various Vultures regularly kicking up Hymns A'Swinging? They're all out there! That's why I have no problem when someone posts about what they found this weekend/holiday etc., it's reassuring to know that it can still be done and I hope folks keep finding and keep posting. I love you all and bless each and every one of your cotton socks!!
My money's on slowbullet (outta Germany) and we may see the £300 mark broken, my copy went for £275 and that was 2 years ago.

PS I found 10 library LPs in Sheffield for 10p each yesterday. They're probably all shite, I didn't get chance to listen to them, but it shows that you can find stuff economically if you're prepared to put in the legwork.
Vibra, get someone to sort out the street cleaning! The Moor = shithole. Castle Market = shithole. Still, Division/Devonshire Street's really coming along. Lots of lovely skate-chicks.
If you will suck my soul, I will lick your funky emotions.
slowbullet is a cool guy! He won my godchild record for $600 ..
salchicha!
I know llmod1 is on holiday so if he doesnt contact me about this I'll be really annoyed. Bidding on fellow vultures is really lame. I'm not moaning because I'm not winning the daft auction (hell Ive got one already I'm not *that* upset) but dudes should have emailed me first to know my intentions.
Thanks Ben for the props - I'll sort you out again soon.![]()

I've got to admit to being a little worried about your attitude here, Serm. I mean, you've already got one and if Lonely Jelly plays sweet, then what's the fuss over?Originally Posted by [b
Let Mark have it. You could even work out a trade with him for his mintier copy, should he win it. That's the kind of deals you should have in mind when this sort of thing happens. Maybe Mark has limited time, wherever he's connected, and so didn't check to see who's bidding...
Mind you, you did describe the auction as daft, so maybe it's a little premature of me to start ringing the deepfunk alarm bells!
Nick mate. You know me. I would have a very good reason for wanting another copy of this and it isnt some show off vanity thing...Lets just say it involves Polydor and missing master tapes.

Yo!
I never bite on anybody's biddings I know and like Ladyboygrimsby, et al said, I feel it is only a record and it WILL turn up again, even a bloody Moody! But after Mark hit on one of mine the other day, putting me out of the runnings, I thought what the hey. Then again, Mark, [if you're checking this] you probably dont even know Soul-Fiend is my user name so.............after some consideration and Serm ever so politely knocking on my door, I've retracted. No hard feelings guys, I hope, cos fucking with you was and would never be my intention.
Cool Â?
I was raised by wolves
I'm kind of with Bill on this one for sure but there is such a kind of mixed psychology to the whole thing. I mean there are certain pieces that a LOT of people are after. There are certain Modern/Northern soul/Latin 45's/LP's that i am mad frothing at the mouth to get.Originally Posted by [b

Ilmod won an LP a couple of months ago that i wanted, but his budget that day was twice mine so i stopped bidding way before the dust had settled, nah mean ?
SECRET RUSSIAN ROMANTIC GUITAR PSYCH BREAKS
fair do's to llmod, though - the high bidder at the time he went in had stood for several days & wasn't actually Sermad but whoever is behind maggiesamba...
a giant steam-powered turntable in warwickshire plays six foot cement recordings of Prince Albert's speeches to the rejoicing populace
Hmmm - that Moody's waaaaay out of my price range but that's me bidding on his copy of Albert Hall's "Grand Slam" - OK you guys?

This IS interesting yeah i saw it last week 'an thought "fookin' ell this ones gonna go, and there is no way even if i would love to have it, that i could afford to enter the bidding war, so i backed the fook off!! and yes i did see Sermads moniker, and quite honestly what the dude does with his wedge, is actually none of our fookin' business!! so let's leave Sermad alone, he has his reasons and there is no need for him to explain anything. I got the Nick Ingman 'Terminator' for about 10 quid more than i'd hoped but i think it a little churlish to complain, as i don't use ebay that much due to the fact that i aint been that impressed with their fookin' service in the past.

Let's have a whip round and back Sermad to the hilt! It sounds as though my boy has the most honourable of intentions!
I'll have a bring and buy sale with photos of Joey Deacon above my stall so it looks legit. I'll go so far as to pledge some cold hard cash to Sermad's cause. Sounds like we may be giving something back to the community too.
Who's with me? We don't have much time.

Bid all you want boyzz. Good luck etc.
Tho I have to disagree with you Towny mate - Never in a million would I compete with the suddes on the bay. That shit just aint right.

Just to clarify the situation. Sermad was not the highest bidder when I found this auction (last night), the internet connection here in Vietnam is shit so doing anything takes hours, hence the reason I didn't check the bid history.
I've now had an email from Sermad stating his position so i have pulled out of the race, I was in fact outbid but would have gone higher had I not known his intent. For others to suggest that there was some malicious intent on my behalf is a little upsetting, to be honest I rarely check the bid history of auctions so if I've ever outbid any of you guys in the past I apologise but it's from laziness and not one upman ship. I may have mis read this situation but from my prospective I'm being painted as the bad guy here. Maybe I'm just being over sensitive!
Here's my opinion, and it's certified 155% EXTREME!

SECRET RUSSIAN ROMANTIC GUITAR PSYCH BREAKS
What I would urge as a note of caution here, is that we don't all have the same eBay tactics do we? Many people will monitor the auction from the minute it's listed with no intention of making a bid until the last minute, by using a sniper or whatever. That is their tactic.
Not all of us will make an early bid as a statement of intent cos it's not always the right move and you allow people to use the 'Search By Bidder' function to see what you're up to. So, it's hard work not to compete against each other cos you only know who's bid and not who's interested.
Noses will inevitably be put out when it's a desirable item, it's the nature of what we do. Though it is a moral minefield out there, I think we've found an amicable and honourable solution.
Current high bidder is baldbeats, who's probably going to buy it, burn it onto CD then put the LP in his shop as ILLBREAKBEATRARE ISH and sell to a Japanese tourist for £400 and bang the CDs out under the counter for a tenner each.

No!
Just to clarify to mark - Dude I wasn't painting you as the bad man - But please when you see one of the vultures on the bid history (it doesnt take 1 minute to check this) then fire off an email to them. I stick a low bid in to track the auction then use auction sniper to make my bid - so saying 'Oh I bid on it because he wasn't the highest bidder at the time' - well mate that doesn't rub.
I used to do what Ben said about just sniping anyways but now with this way atleast I can *show* I'm up to something. Ya get me?![]()

Maybe we should cool off this thread... I don't think anyone's getting angry here, but you've thrown up an interesting dilemma Sermad. What happens if something that several Vulture folk have always wanted, even before this site existed?
Is it fair to say "I saw/bid on the item first"? In this particular case, Mark did say that he couldn't check the bid history... Surely the solution to this, should Mark win, would be to strike a deal with him for your other copy. If you need it for this business with the label, can't you borrow it for your purposes?
Maybe you can reveal more details about this project at the next brillo meet, if you're concerned about posting it up for the public to read...
But back to the original point, no-one's mad at anyone here, so let's not let it get out of hand!
seems the nearest to a Peace, love emotion!
Well, well. £276 eh? That's exactly what my copy went for all that time ago. At least Ingman seems to be immune to inflation!
So, who's this oldskool character then? He's UK-based -Serms, do you want me to go kneecap him for you?
Something that occurred to me during this thread, if Polydor are up for doing a deal with Mr Buni, why didn't they offer him x amount of cash and just tell him to go get the original LP no matter what? If there's something in it for them, why couldn't they (a huge corporation) throw some cash at it? Most odd.
Still think that's one overpriced bit of wax mind. Haven't listened to my minidisc of it in months.
By the way, whoever it was on here that recommended Wendy & Bonnie (it may have been Wayne), good call mate. Got it yesterday and am liking it.
