    Default Antiques Fairs

Has anyone had any luck at big antique fairs over the years. There's a huge one at a county showground round these parts over the weekend and I'm wondering if it's worth bothering dodging the horse brasses and teasets for the odd bit of vinyl action?

Maybe I'm expecting a glorfied booter but then again it might be a bit of a lark as long as there's no '60s furniture to tempt the missus

I've not been to any, but judging from the large antique fairs they seem to frequent on Flog It! and Bargain Hunt etc there's usually a vinyl stall around. There's always an amusing routine at home whenever vinyl stalls pop up on those shows where I whimper and point at the screen, and my girlfriend says "easy now.. calm down.." etc
Let him have the lot for £2.00 - we were only going to throw 'em out anyway...

The records I've seen in such places tend to be more orientated toward the older collector. Like rare Caruso and stuff, worth a look of course but maybe not a big detour.

if you've got the energy then yeah of course it's worth a look!
antiques dealers often have vinyl around and about.
I've found stuff at antiques fairs in u.k,most recent find worth reporting would be a clean copy of Peddlers Suite London. So,hell yeah, get stuck in!

i've been to a few of these type of events and they're not bad, but - in my experience - they're very hit & miss if you're looking solely for records. depends on the size of the event, i guess.

having said that, the good thing is that the sellers are usually non-specialist, ie not dealers, or even selling their own stuff, so pricing can be good. picked up some original uk jazz, deram & trojan stuff for good prices.

That's it - I'M IN! I've got visions of some old duffer with a box of deep groove Blue Notes that he picked up and wants me to take off his hands.

'No one wants this stuff any more - it's all CDs and IPods these days. Lemme see ... 50 records ... how about a tenner? I got a load of British jazz records an all here somewhere ...

I chanced across that Saturnalia disc at a chazza a year ago. The repress I think. Bad music, great pic disc.
