    Default Sonoton library recommendations

    Hello all library hounds.

I will be looking at a radio station library collection in the next for weeks. The majority of the lp's are SONOTON discs. Can anyone guide me into which ones are worth picking up? I am also using the two POP BOUTIQUE comps as a reference.

Also, what year did the MP 2000 libraries start production. There is no date on any of the lp's I have. I bought a small batch off ebay recently which were pretty good. PUBLIC RELATIONS by CAMILLE SAUVAGE was definetly the best one. Its in the same vein as UNIVERS 2000, complete with Ornette Coleman style sax and soprano vocals.

    Many thanks.

    David S.

There's a Sonoton track I really like on Industrial Underscores vol 1 (John Fiddy), quite funky brass/moog stuff. Vol 2 has a couple of ok tracks too, nothing amazing but worth picking up.

Thought I have a few Sonotons but I confused it with Intersound. Both labels are related, I believe - but I could be wrong there.
If you get can have them cheap I suggest you pick up everything that has the ORF Big Band and ORF Orchestra on them. Especially the Orchestra can be cheese but you may find a couple of good tunes there.
Good luck and let us know how it went !

I think 'Dynamoog' is on sonoton which is supposed to be good, dont have it though,

as for when montparnasse started, im not sure but would guess around the same time as telemusic started which would be 68 or 69, i think

recently picked up puzzle by eric framond on mp2000, is also very good, highly recommended

I have a copy of that on Mondiophone (well, about to be posted out actually), so maybe it was issued on both ?

There's at least one cracking track on there.
