couldn't get it to work either, but quick search yielded this - is this the one?

Wonder what the reserve actually is? I'd guess they'll do better not selling and listing them individually...

Looks pretty blinding, some heavy shit in there. .. Black Emanuelle, Black Girl, some nice LSD rekkids (some of which I have).

If you split it presumably it would add up to $$. . .why don't we form a syndicate like the xmas frickin swap, get 50 of us to chip in $100, and drop a bid on it. .. we could ask that nice Nick Cope in NYC to collect 'em, then give him some nice rekkids and split the rest in a random fashion. Might be worthwhile and potentially fun.

However given that the some of the records are described as in "above average" condition and some are VG+. .. you never know what you might end up with eh. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Certainly 20 or so of these LP's I think I'd really enjoy though

I'm sure most of these will be at the boot sale on Sunday. . .err. . .

yeah - me too - think I've got about 5 of those at most, scanning through the great pics (now copied on to my hard-disc to admire for weeks to come) - just in the soundtracks there are so many classic ones that I wish I had originals of - Bedazzled, Wrong Box, Beyond the Valley of the dolls, In Cold Blood, Psyche Out, Dr Phibes, Dr Goldfoot & Girl Bombs, Deep Red, Girl From UNCLE.......

let's hope no one buys the job lot - then they are going as single items - I will be looking with interest at :

    Lee Harvey Oswald Speaks
    Satan's Sadists - Motorcycle
    Tortura 2
    Mating Game-Sex Rituals Documentary
    Violence-Franco Micalizzi
    Bathrooms Are Coming-American Standard
How to Have A Freak Out Party
    Andromeda Strain-Rare Package-6 Sided (??)

    I've had or have. . .

Bedazzled, Beyond the Valley of the dolls, In Cold Blood, Dr Phibes, Dr Goldfoot & Girl Bombs, Deep Red, Girl From UNCLE. . . that Dr Goldfoot LP is pretty easy to find - there was a NM copy sat in Notting Hill MVE for ages at about £7.00 or so.

I'd also be cautious about Satan's Sadists - I think I may have given this a listen and it was a bit dodgy. A lot of these tower biker OST's are a bit sub-par. . .Flashback at Angel had a collection of them in last autumn and I listened to some. Lots of cheap shoddy soundalike fuzzy instros which culminatively aren't much kop.

The real killers for me are probably "Angels from Hell" (which is on that list) and "Hell's Angels on Wheels". "Hell's Angels on Wheels" is ironically easier to find yet IMHO a better album. .. both have some wicked psychey/groovy tracks, wordless vocal stuff and suitar courtesy of Stu Phillips. And both of them are far, far better than "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" which I found rather bland. There was one "Carrie-Nations" track that was OK. . the rest of it. . forgettable. Not sure why this is so collectible. . the Vixen and Cherry, Harry & Raquel OST's by Bill Loose are also both very weak - tasty covers but musically lacking, unless you're really into cheesy lounge which is too tame to do anything on a dancefloor.

I'd be up for it. . .although since it was my idea, I want the Kusini and Hell's Angels on Wheels. . .

Hmmmmmmm. . .although if I got a bag of musical or "personality" records I would be well hacked off. I'd exclude those from the pot straight away. . . or anything to do with Micky Mouse. Are the musical OST's, the pic disks in there and the kiddie records worth anything ? Those Dr Samuel Hoffman Theremin 10"'s also sound pretty interesting. . .

well I'll be up for it if I can have all those ones you've already got!!
BTW - I love the Beyond the Valley film and ST - if those others (the Angels ones) are even better I'll have to hear them - are they on CD or DVD?

but requires someone to collect - and 1000 records is more than one journey unless you own a very big car! i imagine a dealer might well stick 10k or more on it, especially if they can spot any really high value things among the 'personality' (as they put it) stuff.

might try a post on the Exotica mailing list. i no longer really read it, but there certainly used to be people there who would be interested in things like the Les Baxter Perfume 10" and some of the weird gear...

I have a van, some dough and four-pack abs. Seriously, I'm down in Philly so the drive's not bad, and I could easily fit everything in the van.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm let's do it I say. . .

I emailed 'em about this. . .apparently all of them will be listed at $19.99 a pop with no reserve the day after the auction ends, if it fails to meet the reserve.

That's insania, as Mr Andre might have it.

Seriously, the condition of those LP's isn't assured. . . and half of them probably aren't much cop (i.e. all those old picture discs and half of the "personality" stuff).

    What are they thinkin' ?

There are some mighty interesting looking records in there...

The Jack Kerouac ones are pretty scarce aren't they?

I guess reserve might be around the $20,000 mark, if the individual start price is going to be $19.99. Guess it's a fairly complete ready made exotica/OST collection, several $$ records in there, and a large surplus of collectable gear (ie: the Paul Robeson signature, Marilyn discs, Beatnik poetry etc) that could be filleted out and sold on to recoup much of the cost.

If that means someone pays £10 per record, and can collect them themselves, I'd guess the maths might well stack up in their favour if they know how to maximise the resale on the personality & other stuff there. For the outlay, the margins might be tighter than many dealers would like, though...

not looking like much of a bargain with that (still not met) hefty reserve.

i'm guessing they were always planning to break it up and are craftily using this listing as some free publicity... good to see that ploy didn't work!

i'll also wager they've been added to lots of people's "favourite sellers" lists as a result of the listing, and on the promise of this lot being listed individually...

Such cynicism - and almost certainly true. They'll currently cost $20 a pop - it'd be a full time job to get yer money back if you bought them.

    Still ncie pics.

expensive but doesn't look exagerated to me
there are HEAVY pieces on there - and I mean besides the obvious OSTs and beatnik stuff (Call me Burroughs - anyone?)... What many here would consider cheese are reaaaaally rare pieces of incredibly strange music and exotica... some sought after stuff I've never seen on auction before.
so break it down to $25 a piece and you're still getting a good deal, imo.

I agree Kristof, pretty much all of these look good to me... but I probably could live without the stag records...

If I had the money I'd go up to $30,000. Most of these would be very easy to turn over. And $30.00 apiece is a good deal considering how much you save on labor. That's a lot of good records to buy at once.

Viva Chiba is on the money with Biker OST bizniz, lots of crap mostly, bit like the thread last week, not what it says on the tin etc...lots of Biker bits I've ear checked never even feature rock, funk or break infused musics, just real bad sxties pop/pap which did infact feature on the movie, remember these films were made disposable for the largest teen audiences. Some interesting suggestions in this sub genre already mentioned, but you cant beat Mary Jane on Sidewalk, great LP great label and it's in there. For dirtier bizniz check Stone OST but the funked up bits are once again squeezed in between some uninspiring, nondescript tracks also!

At the risk of shooting myself in the foot as I still haven't got a copy but the Savage Pencil comp of music from 60's biker movies probably is the way to go - all the crap avoided and Savage Pencil art too.

good example in how to publicise your eBay listings, though.

worth watching to see how much the entire auction goes for now compared to the so-called reserve price for the entire lot.
