As most of you know I'm moving to US. I've been wondering how to pack and ship my collection and other household items over seas.
First my plan was to pack records in to double cardboard boxes with fillings in between the boxes but it seems that it's not that good idea. Lately I've been trying to find proper hard boxes. To ensure tight packing we're planning to use same boxes for records and household items.
At the moment I have couple of options...
1. Specially designed plastic LP box with lockable cover from Protected.de. Holds approximately 100 LPs. Price is 24.50€ each (including shipping to Finland). They also have same type of boxes for 45s.
2. Random plastic box with lockable cover from local retail outlet. Holds approximately 150 LPs. Price is 33€ each.
First ones are the best for the LPs and a bit cheaper but the second ones might be better for the household objects. The problem with the second ones is that you can't pack records tightly. Because the box width and sidewall angle I'd have to turn some records 90 degrees to hold others in place and there's still a area that you have fill in with books or some other packing material.
Does anyone know any other options in same price range in EU area? I'm ready to put in some budget to sleep better.
I'm going to move with 2000+ LPs and 500+ 45s. Basicly we need 40-50 boxes in total.
