Default Man, I'm LOVING my Betty Everett LP :-)

Found it for cheap at my local bargain basement recently, didn't know about her before, but can't get enough of it. The perfect mix of uptempo Motown like songs, hardedged funky songs and ballads, great for sipping cold lemonade on hot summer days or just staring at the rain.

Any info, stories or silly trivia regarding Betty? I guess she did The shoop shoop song, but besides that....?

    Thanks for listening..........

Found this when I googled for "betty everett", guess she must have some kind of following...

That looks suspiciously like Andy Pointon from Leeds, who DJs on the Northern Soul scene around these parts, and judging by the label of the seven he's holding, he's about to put a Betty Everett orig on Vee Jay on the decks.
Not seen the Betty LP about, but if it hasn't got "Getting Mighty Crowded" on it, then track it down on 7", as it's a surefire winner! Easy to find fairly cheap as it was released in the UK on Fontana.

She's got a killer LP on Fantasy with production by Johnny Watson, David Axelrod, and Willie Mitchell. How's that for star-studded!

    Willie Mitchell takes it IMO

There's an LP called "There'll Come A Time", with an amazing track called "You're Falling In Love". Also done by Liz Damon's Orient Express on White Whale, but Betty's (album-only track) is killer...

Lovely to hear Betty's floating a few boats. She's extremely talented in my opinion, often gets dismissed as a Northern Soul one-shot but did LOADS of quality tracks from the most heartfelt glory to the bubblier end of girl groupishness.
Essential is the Charly LP (comp from early 80s) of Hot To Hold. The title track is my fave but has all her floorfiller goodies and a few lesser known, well-picked tunes. The It's In His Kiss album is superb too.
Having a fab day and this conversation is just adding to it

I'll admit to being a big fan of her later 70s stuff on Fantasy.

The 1974 Axelrod/Watson produced 'Sweet Dan' 7" (Fantasy F-714) is an essential bargain basement pick-up.

A sample of it can be heard on the wax poetics website if need be.

That Charly label did some ok things. I have an old cassette re-issue (!) of Maceo and all the king's men Doing their own thing on the label

My fave is the Mitchell-produced "I'm Afraid Of Losing You". Killer work in his typical slow slinky style.
