Anyone know anything about these lot? Just picked up a reissue of their "Do It In The Road" LP on Elephant V and rather tasty it is too. The sleevenotes say they were former backing musicians for the likes of Wilson Pickett (hence the name, I guess) and Gene Chandler, but did they have any more records out?
"DIITR" seems to be from 1969/70 sorta period with covers of McCartney's paean to outdoor shagging (...or is it about revolution? Who knows...?) "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" as well as Traffic's "Medicated Goo". Overall it's pretty groovy funky psychedelic soul with touches of violin and they also look mighty fine on the cover as well.

Decent 1972 funker 'Follow The Wind', 7" came out on Contempo in the UK and Renee in the States. Think both issues are fairly common. There's also an LP of the same title on Buddah, but I've not got or heard it.

The Midnight Movers “Truckin’” consists of rare and unreleased masters that have not been available for over 30 years. Leader George Patterson first strengthened his chops as an ensemble player with the Chess House Band, which included drummer Maurice White who later formed Earth, Wind, and Fire. He then formed The Movers as a backup band for the penultimate soul-shouter Wilson Pickett, whose hit “I’m a Midnight Mover” served as the inspiration for the group’s name. Most of these recordings date to the group’s tenure in New York in the late 60s, when they alternated between Road Work for the Wicked One and as the house band for the Isley Brothers Tee-Neck records, where they laid down the tracks for the legendary hit “It’s Your Thing.”

Cool - nice one, Ian! Looks like the CD is a comp of the LP I've got, a second LP plus both sides of the single. Must try and track down the other album.
