A door curtain should do it ...as regards sanding floors,you can hire a sander that sucks up 90% of the dust although we got ours done by a proffesional floor fella - hardly any mess at all,and it was a load cheaper than fitting new carpets [and it looks cool]

Mine are all done now Al,bar one room...i got a light varnish put on - which wasn't really needed in retrospect - i live and i constantly learn
