The whole bunch of Sylvers siblings did quite a few albums, though I've not heard any of these LPs.
I only have the one with 'Misdemeanor' on (and Foster rocking the colourful clothes in a dodgy pose on the back cover).

Handle It by the Sylvers is really good. Ralph Carter who was some kind of child star in the US made an pretty decent disco album, too, in 75.

Before disco, but Little Johnny King belting it out with Fatback does it for me. Feel his soul.

Sylvers I and II are both well worth getting, don't have III. I has "fool's paradise" and "chaos" as the standouts, can't remember the highlights of II.

I has by far the better sleeve too.

SYLVERS I

SYLVERS II

and on the "5 stairsteps" thing, you gotta get the curtis mayfiled produced and written "don't change your love" on curtom, by the 5 Stairsteps and Cubie. knockout stuff. not disco, i confess, but knockout nonetheless.

hey, curtis was ever so slightly involved in the Patti Jo things too. Hmmmmmmmmm. did he have anything to do wth the Double Deckers or Musical Youth?

Sylvers III has a fantastic song called 'Even this shall pass away' - beautiful minor key ballad

Not really disco but do you know the Lovelites? Beautiful stuff...great vocal harmonies.

The Lovelites at Waxidermy

Get to waxidermy.com via this link; you'll find five songs to download from the Lovelites LP amongst the January 2006 LP's.

Couple of tracks:

The Lovelites - Oh My Love
The Lovelites - I Love You (Yes I Do)

I think I read, or was told, that she was about 13 or 14 when she did those and that she was retired from the music biz by her folks, who didn't think it was such a good idea. Thanks a lot, Mr and Mrs Jo.....

Agree with you on these being THE two great tunes. I know of another one on Scepter (as opposed to sister label Wand, which the other 2 came out on): "Stay Away from Me" / "I can feel my love coming down" - I don't think I have ever heard it, though.

Thinking about it, there's quite a tradition of this in black American music starting, maybe, with Frankie Lymon and his little pals. Loads of names spring to mind, both famous and obscure:

Patti Austin's amazing Coral releases;Little Carl Carlton; Darrow Fletcher;Sister Sledge; Betty Wright, The Lovelites;Little Esther Phillips; The Eight Minutes; Little Jimmy Gandy; North, South, East and West...

I also kinda like the pre-Motown Jackson 5 recordings which you can find on CD for about three quid at places like the CD booth on Llanndudno pier.

On the other hand, there was also a record, huge at Wigan Casino, by one Marc Copage called "(Who Can I Turn To with) Questions and Answers". I believe Marc was three years old when he cut this contender for the worst record of all time. Has to be heard to be believed, as they say.....

Default Johnny Crawford - Rodeo Star

Kind of related...well.. a teen thing anyway... I really like teen star Johnny Crawford's 'Cindy's Birthday' as featured on the first volume of Ace labels 'Golden Age of American Rock n' Roll' series.

Anyone know if his LP / LP's are worth hunting down...is there similar quality Rock n' Roll stuff on it / them?
