Default Strange Attractors, Weird Online Mixes and The Free Pop Electronic Concept Orchestra.

Three questions, any help appreciated.

Just enjoyed finishing reading the three volumes of Strange Attractors. Anything else out there like them?

Has anyone found any weird online mixes of library stuff, Ginghamkitchens' mix has got me itching.

Been playing The Free Pop Electronic Concept Orchestra most of today. Any lesser known exploito stuff akin to this.

Over and out.

I've posted a new mix of old stuff in the Home Productions section - slightly different focus, but it still might hit the spot.

If you like Strange Attractor, you might like Dreamflesh which is coming from a similar angle. Beautiful bit of design as well. The link is to the editor's blog (who is currently lying on my sofa, but is too hungover to describe his publication properly) which has links to purchase the journal as well as his books.

As I've mentioned previously - check out the 3 volumes of Rapid Eye from the 90s, edited by Simon Dwyer (alas no longer with us) - all weird and wonderful! Also 'Apocalypse Culture' by Adam Parfrey and some of the earlier RE/Search books are worth digging out.

Apocalypse Culture is fantastic. That really twisted my 15 year old brain when I brought it. It's one of the most extreme things I've ever read. Adam Parfrey's Feral House have done another big weird collection of articles which looks interesting also, but I can't remember the title, sorry.

You might also like all Headpress as well, though it's a bit too exploitative for me, most of the time.

Couple of good books I've read recently about people involved in American underground culture/the world of fanzines:

Jim Goad - Shit Magnet. Goad published a really extreme zine ("Answer Me!") that delighted in murder, suicide and generally outraging everybody. This is his biographical account of those times, and a really really fucked up relationship. Comes over as a fucking cock and a lot of his self-justifications are really irritating but an interesting read.

Lisa Crystal Carver - Drugs are Nice. Was author of an influential 'zine called Rollerderby and crazy performance artist. Had a kid with industrial musician Boyd Rice (who comes over as a complete piece of shit). A really honest and touching account of what she did, her relationships etc.

(BTW if you fancy borrowing the latter, send me a PM and I'll whack it in the post).
