Due out on DVD here soon. Should be worth it for the FTB and Zunokeisatsu footage alone, but the FEFB stuff might also be interesting.

    No Gedo, though

I went to that showing last night. Unfortunately the documentary was really awful - subject matter was great, but it was put together in a terrible way, which actually servied to make it quite boring. Just some footage of the bands (most of which was quite interesting) followed by interviews of one member from a band. The interviews lasted for a really long time, and were cut really badly - overlong, and wtih random jump cuts. There was no introduction, no sense of narrative (or narrator), no contextualising of the bands in relation to Japan etc. A fascinating story, told really badly.

Not surprised to read it was the guys first feature. Don't waste your money on the DVD guys!

Damn, that's a shame. Was really looking forward to it too. I think Ill still get the DVD for the band footage, but good to get your feedback before getting my hopes too high.

BTW, was the version you saw dubbed or subtitled in English?

It was subtitled. The footage is worth seeing, espcially if you're into those bands, and there's some good stuff in the interviews (the dude from Flower Travelling Band is cool), but overall, it was just really poorly edited. Make it a bit of a chore to sit though.
