  • Spoilt Broth reanimation / Svengali / Q&A / Scooters

Friday 2nd May, Saffron Walden, Essex, innit.

oldschooltramp is joining me to play some records of a broadchurch (™ Ed Piller) mod flavouring, just like the old days, at the Saffron Walden showing of Svengali.

after the film will be a Q&A with writer of Svengali and actor Jonny Owen (also of Shameless/Little White Lies etc) and Vicky McClure (This Is England/Line Of Duty etc). also in attendance will be Martin Root (Producer) and Matt Bell (asst. Director).

there will also be a vintage scooter show outside.

and other stuff too, I guess.

Booked! Scooters in the playground? Does the headmaster know?
    Looks good.
Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

Nice one Paul. Lots of other stuff going on in Cambridge that weekend if you want to get misty-eyed over '79 revival sounds. Am tempted to check out The Chords myself

Can't make any of the stuff in Cambridge that weekend, hoping to get up for DC Fontana in June though. Feeling the need for that combination of Axminster, sofas, beer and great music

a little (essex) bird tells me that Jo Hartley, who plays Shaun's mum in 'This Is England', will also be attendance on the night.

          MODS!

Excellent! Be good to see you again. Anyone got any idea what time things kick off?

We've been told to play records from 7pm, film starts 8pm, promptly followed by Q&A then more records until whenever. They've brought the bar into the main room and I think they open up the side doors after the viewing so punters can gawp at the majestic Lambrettas and those Vespas too.

Excellent film, get to see it if you can.
Great tunes from the Spoilt Broth team, sounded surprisingly good in such a large hall.
Thanks for the initial heads up Col, we really enjoyed it.
