Again, absolutely nothing to do with me but another of Chris's nights that is well worth highlighting… was reminded of this one yesterday when Mr. Haslam appeared on 6 Music to discuss the book “Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs & Music Venues”… link for the 6 music interview is here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02zn6r5
In Conversation with: Dave Haslam
When: Wednesday, 16th September 2015 - Begins at approximately 6pm (Come Early)
Where: Outlaws Yacht Club, 38 New York St, Leeds
How Much: Five of your early pounds of the sterling (moss) verity
The big-up: We are delighted to be welcoming writer, broadcaster and DJ Dave Haslam. Dave made his DJing debut at the Hacienda in 1986. Ian Brown, Tim Burgess, and the Chemical Brothers were regular visitors to his events there and all have credited him as an inspiration. Sonic Youth have slept on his floor; Tony Wilson threatened to shoot him; he took John Peel to see Public Enemy; he's cooked cauliflower cheese for Morrissey; Neil Tennant introduced him to Tracey Emin; and he has appeared on radio and TV on dozens of occasions. Dave's latest book, ‘Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs & Music Venues’ is published on 13th August 2015. There will be copies of Dave's new book available to buy on the night.
Chinwag supports MAP (Music and Arts Production) a Leeds based registered charity which delivers bespoke courses in art, design and music production for young people who have difficulties accessing mainstream education. Dave has kindly donated his fee to help us support the the amazing projects that MAP deliver.
Hosted by psychotherapist Chris Madden, Chinwag invites you to lean in and listen to a conversation about life and anything else that comes up. Unlike a Q&A, this is an opportunity to get to know someone a bit better, hear a few of their tales, find out what makes them tick, share some insights and maybe ask a few questions too.
Held at the intimate Outlaws Yacht Club in Leeds, this is a unique event with limited capacity at only 100 tickets. Please arrive early, grab a seat, have your tea, have a drink, meet some mates, and enjoy an evening of insights.
Chinwag....a chat about life and whatever else comes up…
