  • Drew Millward (Artist) Thursday 21 July 2016 @ 7pm (Outlaws Yacht Club, Leeds)

Again absolutely nothing to do with me but another of Chris's nights that is well worth highlighting… this time I’ve got both the day and date right…. Although a little short in notice… one day I’ll get all three to coincide ;-)

    In Conversation with: Drew Millward

When: Thursday, 21st July 2016 - Begins at 7pm (Come Early)

Where: Outlaws Yacht Club, 38 New York St, Leeds

How Much: Five pounds 30 pence (earthling cash if you please - ticket details below)

The big-up:To coincide with an exhibition of his work, Drew will be joining Chris for a chat about life and whatever else comes up

Drew likes to draw ‘the old fashioned way’, using pencils, pens and a love of the craft of illustration. While his subject matter can vary dramatically, he hopes that the attention to detail and the love of drawing is apparent throughout his work.

His arresting visual style has been described as depicting “the benign terror of what’s just beyond our world” and “defined by an accessible creepiness.” Yet this doesn’t do him justice, his work is both accessible and complex, cuddly and disturbing, yet truly defies categorization. Imagine if you will the interior of the peak of your acid binge where the divide between light and dark merges…. We are blessed to have him as a local artist and his work has adorned many spaces, seeping into our collective conscious for the better.

He has exhibited throughout the US, UK, Europe and beyond, as well as having the pleasure of creating work for an ever growing international client base which includes Nike, Epitaph Records, Warner Music, Disturbia Clothing, Any Forty, Kapitol Skateboards, Dirtyface, BSI Merch, Vannen Watches, Alamo Drafthouse, Mondo Tees, Paint The Stars, Set Your Goals, Mogwai, Bon Iver, Sonic Youth, Gallows, Oceansize, Pulled Apart By Horses, Hawk Eyes, Circa Survive, Arctic Monkeys, You Ate My Dog, Narrows, Humanfly, Flight of The Conchords.

Hosted by psychotherapist Chris Madden, Chinwag invites you to lean in and listen to a conversation about life and anything else that comes up. Unlike a Q&A, this is an opportunity to get to know someone a bit better, hear a few of their tales, find out what makes them tick, share some insights and maybe ask a few questions too.

As ever, proceeds are in support of MAP (Music & Arts Productions) which enables disadvantaged young people at risk of exclusion from mainstream education access to art and music courses. Laetitia has kindly donated her fee to help us support MAP’s inspiring projects and promote arts education in the community. Grab a ticket, join in the chat and support an amazing organisation.
