I hooked up my scanner, and it made a horrible noise, akin to an old man wheezing, so I'm low-tech again. Here are some recent finds/purchases:
Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings - Naturally (Daptone LP)
My favorite tune is 'How Do I Let A Good Man Down', but the whole thing is brilliant. Now why did I wait to buy a copy???
Jesse Gee - Don't Mess With My Money (Barry 45)
Leon Spencer - Where I'm Coming From (Prestige LP)
The real winner is the title track, a real headnodder.
Love the drum sound, and the flute solo is fantastic!
DonatoDeodato (Muse LP)
Check out the track 'Nightripper'.
The Three Sounds - Sittin' Duck (Blue Note 45)
Alvin Cash - The Getaway (Chess 45)
Last 45 I needed to find by Mr. Cash. Solid funk tune.
Brass Construction - Take It Easy (DOCC 45)
70s funk workout.
Ray Alexander Technique - Let's Talk (Lu Jon LP)
My favorite find as of late.....& side 2 is where it's at:
Funky with some real smooth vocals. Sweet soul meets funk?
I don't know, but I'm really into it.
