  • Finished watching this last week, not music related but loads of archive footage. It's a crazy story and one I'd never heard about before, totally insane. It's quite long 6 episodes that are about 70-80 minutes a piece but well worth a watch. Oh yep it's a Netflix thing. :

      • Tis' witchcraft mate, you have this little black stick you plug into your TV and it magically transmits TV shows and Films on to your screen and money mysteriously disappears from your bank account once a month. I've even heard tell of people seeing it through their computers and the kidz getting it through their video game machines and super phones!

        • New series of Plebs started last night on ITV 2. On the face of it it shouldn't be my kind of thing but I really like it. Now that Stylax has been in a crappy prime-time BBC1 drama he's too good for Plebs so a new character has been introduced. Very surprised to see Robert Lindsay in it too. Also one of the best soundtracks on telly, nice to hear Dulcemania last night.

          • Saw YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE.Brutal and atmospheric vigilante drama w Juaquin Phoenix. Very good. Like TAXI DRIVER meets BAD LIEUTENANT with a splash of Euro art horror.

            • Really want to see that, lot's of people I respect saying he's brilliant in it. I'm currently watching the second season of 'Legion' which is quite possibly the best TV series I've seen in years, stunning.

I like JP. He was great in THE MASTER and THE VILLAGE. A lot of people rate HER which I haven't seen.

                • 'HER' was OK he's great in it but it drags on a bit and I didn't really buy into it to be honest, worth a watch though it's a yarn.

                  • Had to order something on Amazon and they were offering their free Prime trial which is funny as I used it over Christmas and they don't tend to offer it again for another year but I have recently bought a firestick linked to my account so maybe it's that. Might as well make the most of it

So I was browsing around for some comedy and picked 'Loudermilk' at random which is a comedy set around an addiction recovery group by one of the Farrelly brothers. It draws you in over a couple of episodes and then gets really funny. Tragedy mixed with slapstick, absurd situations and a touch of the surreal with some expected toilet humour. It has a great cast though who really gel especially two in particular who end up in a bizarre storyline throughout half of the series that just gets weirder and weirder. I had quite a severe laughing fit on about episode 6 or 7 so that's a good sign for me.

So it's not subtle but it's funny and set around a guy who used to be a 90's music journalist, has a record shop/cafe as a main location and some turntable porn!

I saw Mary Magdalen last week because it was the only film in English that I could take my mum and my aunt to.
Joaquin is Jesus. He's terrible, all wild-eyed and mystical. Mary Magdalen gets knocked out on while he throws the moneylenders out of the temple so you miss most of the Easter story, but fortunately she comes round in time to see Joaquin get crucified.
My mum: "I wanted to see the donkey"
My aunt: "Where were the loaves and fishes?"
Also, the film is careful to bury the slander that Mary M was a prostitute. As if that matters -I thought prostitutes were exactly the sort of people Jesus was supposed to mix with.
