This one looks really great as well and wins prizes for best name: http://theblacksmithandthetoffeemaker.co.uk/

Not been there yet but am intrigued, also in Islington. Menu looks lush, poncey but that's THAT LONDON for you.

The Duke of Cambridge is decent as well but not the cheapest for face-food interface.

There's a bazillon places mate. It's Friday night that's the problem. I really like The Charles Lamb in Angel though their website seems to have gone for a burton - may be too small for your needs. The Island Queen round the corner is really nice as well.

Pretty sure I can think of a bunch more, given some time.

    NRR: London, can anyone help?

It's my birthday (or close enough) on Friday Feb 7 and I'll be in London. I need a pub/bar to meet friends in the evening.

    Can anyone suggest a venue?

Something vaguely central, pref north and east. Food, not too busy, suit varied ages (prolly 25-45), I'll have c.20 people there. None of that is a deal breaker.

I appreciate that this might be impossible. Is it?
