  • BBC4: The Genius of Bert Jansch: Folk, Blues and Beyond

    A moving concert (I know, I was there )

From the facebook page dedicated to the late Bert Jansch:
THE GENIUS OF BERT JANSCH: Folk, Blues & Beyond. The 90 minute programme features interviews and rare archive footage as well as stunning performances from the unique multi-artist concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London last December, celebrating Bert's songwriting and musicality.

Ralph McTell, Robert Plant, Donovan, original members of Pentangle (Jacqui McShee, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox), Bernard Butler, Martin Carthy, Wizz Jones, Martin Simpson, Lisa Knapp Music, Paul Wassif, Beverley Martyn, Mara Carlyle, (and more) perform in many unique combinations Bert's songs and songs that inspired him, at the Royal Festival Hall at London's Southbank Centre. Plus there is an extraordinary performance by Neil Young of Jansch's haunting Needle of Death, filmed at Jack White's Nashville studio especially for the occasion.

Yes, an excellent tribute. The same week I also saw Linda Perhacs at Cecil Sharp House (another excellent gig).
