  • Marvelous - BBC 2 last week

Surprised no one mentioned this, me included, before it was shown last week on BBC2.
The story of Neil Baldwin (Nello) played by Toby Jones, Stoke City kit man, clown and Keele University greeter. Probably the best drama/true life film done by the BBC this year.
It made me laugh out loud and I Had tears in my eyes (of joy) at the end. Gives you some faith in humanity when such a great guy is around.
A must watch if you get the chance on catch up.

I second this, I'll watch anything with Toby Jones in.

I work with a couple of Potters so they had been getting excited about this for a few weeks waiting for the broadcast...

I loved it. Brilliant, well acted, heartwarming...
If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

The 'shorts' scene was classic- and of course the interview with the lifted kilt.

Just watched this on iPlayer. Many thanks for the heads-up, especially as it provided my wife with copious mirth at my expense ... "that's you with records, isn't it?"

I liked it and, unlike you, I got away with it viz-a-viz record collecting digs (unlike when any of those hoarding programmes are on when I never hear the end of it). It wasn't laugh out loud but it was certainly smile out loud, which is just as good.

I emphasise in regard to those bloody hoarding programmes....

                wife: "thats you that is"

me: "that woman has been defecating in nappies and chucking the used ones on a pile in her living room for 15 years there are also dead cats all around her house"

                wife: "you're a hoarder"

That was in relation to a particular gruesome episode of the American version.

I laughed all the way through this, can't wait for the second episode.

I thought it was a one off?

DETECTORISTS was also good, I thought. Some lovely Suffolk scenery, Framlingham, I believe.
