Only 6 days left to watch.
Enjoyed this, although Wigan was never about picking up women or violence. Interspersed with some original dancefloor action from Wigan Casino, which i don,t ever remember seeing done in a film before,

Watched this last night and half-enjoyed it. I dunno why (well, I do) they had to bolt on the stupid plot with the villain and stuff though. We both cried with laughter at the final dance-off but before that there were loads of cool bits and some amazing footage. For someone who is way too young to have experienced that the first time round it gave you some idea of what the atmosphere might have been like.

What Col said. There's no scene-snobbery in this from my viewpoint, the new film ("Northern Soul") is just a whole lot better.
If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

The new film is good from an atmosphere, scene point of view, but plot line and characters are a bit clunky to say the least. Just don't expect a masterpiece and there is plenty to enjoy

Always the way with genre films of this nature I fear.

I thought it was fairly terrible but kind of enjoyable. Not that enjoyable - I still haven't made it to to the end and probably won't.The characters were godwful cardboard cutouts but I liked the sets and all the period detail.

I can obviously understand why peeps think its terrible, i do too in a way. It did manage to capture certain elements that i liked tho. The shock of finding out certain people were into northern that you would of never have guessed in a million years. The atmoshere waiting to catch the bus to Wigan with soulies playing tapes on portable tape players. The first time you go and think "This? What a dump!" The way some mates get into it and feel it and some mates never get it. Practising dancing in ya bedroom. Blues and Soul magazine, 2 pages of northern soul reviews, charts, and advertised events. Dancers wearing a sweat band on each wrist. Dance off at the end was hillarious and so was the Eddie Foster white label.

I loved the old one. Dont forget kids it has record collecting / dealing in too.

Not seen the new one yet.
