  • "Psychotic Pop" band gig: Suggestions for DJ playlist, please

For my sins, I've been asked to DJ at a gig being put on by a local band, who describe their sound as "Psychotic Pop". I've been rifling through my collection to come up with suitable tracks/artists, and - interpreting the description quite broadly- have come up with

Serge G, Ramases, Pulp, Moonlandingz, Alan Trajan, Syd/early Floyd, Horrors, JAMC, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Crazy Elephant, Primal Scream, Suede, Smiths, Lee Hazlewood, Scott Walker, Nick Cave, Polnareff.

    further suggestions sought, thank you.

two of the band are old stagers from the local Sheffield scene of the early 80s, so I'll be throwing in some punk and post-punk.

additionally, the gig is going to be in a cave (Peak Cavern aka "Devil's Arse"), so speleological related tracks would also be a bonus!
OK: ready; let's do it ...

Perhaps a little obvious, but an old favourite

Early Postcard Records stuff like Josef K and Orange Juice maybe?
Could even give the Stones' 19th Nervous Breakdown and Paint It Black a spin?
And of course this, from Talking Heads (surely one of the ultimate 'psychotic pop' bands?):

Does this sort of thing fit the bill? They sound like a bunch of psychos to me

A David Lynch track? Originally I thought about "Crazy Clown Time", but "I Know" better ticks the 'pop' box.

And this from the same album.

Was also going to mention Talking Heads Psychokiller. How about some more Heads - Lots of tracks on More Songs About Buildings And Food have a bit of a psychotic edge to my ears.

                  Also, maybe:

                  Very early Scritti Politti?

                  Clock DVA?

Loads of mad pop shit on this old thread. The Baronet's Pelican Dance would be first in my box for this gig.

I also reckon there's something a bit psychotic about Oliver Sain's relentless boogie sax workouts and Bohannon's stuff .

A bit of 50s pop by way of Steve Barry ;-)

Or maybe something like 'Cardiacs - Is this the Life'
