  • Utrecht 2017

It's that time of the year again, but no mention around these parts. No-one going this year? I'm going for the Saturday, as I did for the first time last year.

Looking forward to being excited, panicked, overwhelmed, and disappointed that I didn't get the records that I thought I wouldn't get as there were so many other records that I'll get that when I went back to get the other records they weren't there anymore. Not making THAT mistake again. i'll just buy everything.

Up for a bit of beer Saturday.

Ha, hovering or hoovering? Would love to hang around for a beer, but heading to Amsterdam straight after.

Caught the Utrecht bug now so heading back. Only arriving Friday eve so won't make the traders day on the Fri. Will just be hitting the fair on Sat / Sun - always left on the Sunday lunch time previous years but this time will be able to dig until the fair shuts so hope to snag so bargains from the bins in the closing hours.

.....some truly amazing acts on at Le Guess who but not sure I will have funds for the wrist band after all the record spend but will see......

I spotted this 'Free' fringe event which is on the Friday eve very near Jaarbeurs... In Utrecht alone so I'm likely gonna head over that area and neck a couple of beers on arrival

Having ANOTHER year off. Too many records bought here means not enough funds. I went to Hoorn earlier in the year and felt the pinch on the exchange rate, so things need to improve on that front before I head back with intent. The thought of one day on a (very) limited budget is quite appealing, almost like a charity shop challenge in Utrecht.
Happy hunting to all the pilgrims heading over. Good luck chaps

Slightly off tangent - for anyone staying in Amsterdam and doing the train back and forward - I happened to be in Amsterdam last Friday/Saturday - Recommend new drinking spot - http://oedipus.com/ - the brewery tap room is on the other side of the harbor from Central Station - free ferry to close to the spot from back of station. High grade selection of beers, relaxed spot and top food...

If you make it to the tap room on Friday - just past the tap room is newist venue Garage Noord (Gedempt Hamerkanaal 40, 1012 KM Amsterdam) - 150 capacity - Austrian DJ Moe is playing some vinyl action there with the resident - worth a visit as he's not abroad often... fine selector...

First timer here. Arriving Saturday morning, doing Le Guess Who that night, and back for more on Sunday.

Any helpful tips and advice for the first timer?
Would benefit from a professional clean.

Combining the Jaarbeurs and Le Guess Who?? Wow, you're obviously under 45. You're missing Roy Montgomery & Haino on Friday night though. I'd love to see Roy but I'll be shattered by Friday night and will probably be rubbing deep heat into my decrepit joints at the moment he takes the stage. And downing painkillers with premium lager. All in preparation for day 2 . . .

Check last years thread Feelgood By Numbers has some good advice on page 3 and there's various other bits sprinkled through it.

This actually pretty much sums it up for me. Not really having the funds to go with a wantlist atm... but a full day of bargain bins might be fun too. Even though my expectations would not be high at all.
