South Africa for me...it's got an undefinable feel I really dig.

Probably got more Senegalese stuff in my collection than anything else, but overall it's got to be Congo. Civilised, elegant, thrilling, I used to spend days listening to rumba and soukous at a friends house and hearing him play it out at nights.
Hearing this one coming out of a massive PA stack once was something I'll never forget. It gradually and irresistibly lured loads of people out onto the dancefloor then steamrollered them with horns and guitar.

        Vardy.....¡¡¡PELIGRO!!!

Interesting BC, rumba and soukouss are possibly the only musics from Africa I don’t particularly like.

Mali, I think partly because I have it crossfiled in my mind with nearby Guinea and Sylliphone Records which has to be the best label ever.

As for country I'd go with whatever made it through France to the Berlin flea markets the most. So Marrocco and Egypt probably
