  • Quincy Jones interview on vulture.com

Interesting remarks about Michael Jackson, The Beatles & Bono among others.
(among others or amongst others? I'm going with among)

If even half of it is true...

I don't know how true it all was but it was an entertaining read none the less. Loved the Beatles story and the Marlon Brando stuff.

My favourite bit is Jimi Hendrix's fear of TootsThielemans. What a scaredy cat motherfucker!

I read it the other day made me chuckle, how true a lot of it is who knows but I aint' gonna argue with Quincy Jones about his musical skills he's a bona fide genius. He's right about 'The Brothers Johnson' though they get nowhere near the cred that 'Nile Rodgers' etc get. Louis Johnson is an immense Bass Player, a Slap Pioneer, he played on 'Off the Wall' and 'Thriller' FFS and Leo Fender consulted him a lot when designing the Stingray Bass Guitar, the guy has serious chops!

            Had.
            Died 2015.
Last time I saw him was together with Quincy Jones at the Hollywood Bowl in 2011. He (and brother George) were on top form, but unfortunately the bass had serious technical problems and had to be exchanged half way through the performance. Probably the reason why I have never ever seen a video clip of that concert anywhere.

Aye, I remember now, very sad loss. One of my bass heroes not that I've ever been able to play Slap!
