It was totally unexpected. Just a pile of records at a 2nd hand book sale. I presume no-one had been bothered to go through the whole lot which is mystifying. On first glance they did look like a pile of crap.
The most expensive were the Derek Bailey and the Talking Heads which were about 6.50 each, the others were between 2 and 5 quid each ...
The shop's main business is books so they probably couldn't be bothered to do the research to price the LPs properly, hence Derek Bailey 6.50, Carol King (which I didn't buy) also 6.50, but Stockhausen and Xennakis 2 quid ...

Here's my weekly haul most off ebay from the same seller which landed this morning. 'Jonathan Swift - Introvert' from 1971 is a recent want so happy to land it super cheap it's great singer songwriter stuff with big string arrangements. The rest were punts. 'Brett Stevens' I see all over and has one of those covers which makes you think 'Lost Acid Folk Gem' until you realise it pops up everywhere. I'm not expecting much as it has a cover of 'Beautiful Dreamer' on it and Mr Stevens is not oozing any kind of cool or suave on the rear. Another punt 'Michael Wendruff - Southpaw' on Buddha from 1974, again not expecting much but it was still in it's shrink and weirdly has the sleeve opening on the left side which surely must be a miss-press. 'Neil Diamond' because I've been wanting to listen to his 'Africa Suite'. My only chazza find is a repress of an album from 1978 by Australian group 'Redgum' which is kind of politicised folk with an unashamedly Aussie slant and vocals. Apparently they became quite polished and more 80's rock as they became big in their native country but here they are very ramshackle which is a good thing. Maybe Funk can shed some light as I know nothing about them. All that for under a tenner including P+P I'd never have bought Mr Diamond online otherwise that would have been quite mad considering how ubiquitous he is in charity shop land. Apols for crappy phone pic, the wife still has the good camera and better phone come to that. :

PS - why are we here?...no not that 'why are we here?'.....I mean shouldn't we be in the 'Recent Finds' section?...and if the mods are being so kind as to move us, can they also stick the 'Classical Finds' thread over there while they're at it?...ta....you can hear colours when they rhyme...

99p inc P+P so I thought I'd stick a sly bid on and unsurprisingly was not challenged so not lost out as such, think my max was 1.28 lol. So it has no redeeming features whatsoever?
There is a seller on ebay, who has huge 3 day auctions of records and offers free european postage (I'm getting deja vu thinking I've said this here before but cant remember anyway....) There are usually well over a thousand records which are in the main chuff and it's a bit of a mare to go through it all but has proved worthwhile on occasion. The thing is they never give any grading so it's always a punt. What's interesting though is how it motivates people to bid up on the oddest of records like albums by 'Neil Sedaka', 'Hansi', 'MFP' and your usual charity shop staples and I shit you not 'Rolf Harris' and 'Gary Glitter' records being bid up to 4-5 quid.
It's auction fever and every time they do one it gets worse, probably because they email you in advance of an auction if you've bought from them in the past. I've had a few decent buys though and some oddities alongside some heavily scratched junk but I've won more than lost. I'm guessing all of what they sell which is vinyl and old console and computer games must be saved from skips. I've been going to auctions for years since I was a kid with my Dad so I don't tend to get drawn into crazy bidding wars so much but it's interesting to watch.
It's a clever way of making money cos people will bulk up their buy in the main whereas people like me might just manage to snag one album for 99p but it no doubt makes a nice profit at the end of the whole thing.

I've not given it a listen past a youtube link. Seems it was on a smaller label and CBS released it in the UK in the early eighties. Mine is a 'For Demonstration' copy so it might not have even made it for wide sale.
