Andre Previn. A major league musical talent who will always be remembered for that sketch (which does happen to be one of the best sketches of all time).

reading his bio the other day I was surprised to see he'd been married (for a short while anyway) to Anne Sophie Mutter.

amazing career though, it's exhausting just reading about it.

the jazz LPs of his I've found look too cocktail piano-y, but I quite like the ones I have with Shelly Manne. Conducting-wise I mostly seem to have picked up concertos, although was listening to a nice album of his of Satie and Ibert the other day. Don't have any of his famous Vaughan Williams cycle or any of his own compositions...

One of Mr Previn's contributions to the Rollerball soundtrack and a regular on my 90s mixtapes.

Did he really co-write You're Gonna Hear From Me from Scott Walker's 1st?

yeah, I think it's just writing credits for the "Valley of the Dolls" theme.

Those Dory Previn albums are odd. Purged mine not too long ago. She was wife number 2 (out of five)

& it's completely irrelevant, I know, but apparently a very lovely, super friendly bloke.

'Fire Starter' and 'Smack My Bitch Up' (minus the misogynistic title) are classics.
