Oh dear, a bunch of Jazzers with Covid related deaths in April. Henry Grimes, 84- Lee Konitz, 92- Giuseppi Logan, 84. A pretty good inning for them, I guess, but who wants to go like that.

Also departed is Hal Wilner, apparently Covid too, a mere 64.

                    Jimmy Cobb.

Had been the last surviving member from the Kind Of Blue sessions.

                    A good innings

                          John Gregory has died.

He wrote and arranged music for 27 films, including Serena (1962), The Sicilians (1964), Electric Dreams (1984) and Revolution (1985). He scored more than 500 compositions and made more than 2,000 records, spanning covers for the Embassy label to light music, easy listening and Latin American. Under the names Chaquito and Nino Rico, he launched a successful series of big band Latin American style albums. Two of these, This Chaquito (1968) and Thriller Themes (1972) entered the UK album charts.
As the Guardian obituary states, he was also a mushroom hunter.

                          Farewell Chaquito!

I had no idea Keith Tippett died on the 17th. Mrs SK and I saw him a few years back at what was supposed to be a gig with an interval but at the start he said " We're not going to have an interval. We'll just start and keep going until it seems like it's finished". I reckon the piano probably needed a bit of attention by the end of it.

That's a shame. Sad to hear that.
