  • Laser turntables ... any news?

I came across an ad for www.laserturntable.co.jp today. I know there's been some talk on here a few years ago. Just wondering if there are any new, slightly cheaper options. The thought that they might be able to play scratched records is probably far too much to hope for, as previously pointed out.

Here's the video from ELP in Japan ...

    & here's their website

So, anything going on in this area?

I used to be obsessive about clicks/pops/scratches - I once took a brand new LP back to the HMV in Oxford Street 3 times for a replacement - now, I don't really mind... It's all "patina".

When I buy a brand new LP, I expect it to play without noise or skipping. Anything less is giving carte blanche to the pressing plant to do whatever they feel like doing.

I don't mind the occasional pop or click but skips & jumps really annoy me and I'll spend as much times as is necessary to try to fix it.

And I know that as a customer of Disk Union I am spoiled. Anything you buy from them, even 2nd hand, they will take back, no questions asked. It obviously makes sense for them to do business that way. Do any record shops in the UK offer that level of service?
