  • Funky cop out

Here's something funky I picked up recently, yes, at a car boot sale...
Its a great little single with an excellent riff running thru it
which bears more than a passing nod to 'Footloose' it could
even be THE source of the tune as its VERY similar! Near the
end it breaks down into 'Whole Lotta Love' riffing and as these
things go I reckon its a cracker
This is actually the B side, the A is called 'Julie Ivory Towers'
and is credited to The Whips.
I have no other info about it but I hope someone out there can enlighten me.

Being the sad man that I am I tracked down a copy of this and can now reveal that the "Funky Cop Out" track is a rather tasty instro cover of "Funk 49" by the James Gang - not sure if it's credited properly 'cos I'm too lazy to pull out the James Gang version right now.

...and arranged by Chris Gibbons. The same Chris Gibbons who is thanked on the Licorice Soul 45s ?

I'd forgotten about that release, I like to get a credit on a single every 32 years if I can. What pleasure it was to work with 'Muff' and the band!
