• Brillo comp latest

This was getting mentioned off topic on another thread, so I thought we'd better give it its own, so everyone's on the page...

Updates: Looks like the title of this project is gonna be called Brillo Fresh, sticking with the Brillo brand look with a UK charity childrens record look and feel. What with the all the meets, Best of Brillo, etc, the whole thing has built up into something solid, so we should stick with that, as opposed the original title.

Status: Same as it was over three months ago. I'm sorry some folk are griping about all the time it's taking, but hardly anyone outside the VV circle knows of it, so it doesn't make much difference anyway. This whole thing has been kind of committee based - track selections, voting etc. So it's hardly surprising that it's taking so long.

We're currently waiting for Hadrian Elephant & Si Cheeba to get their original tracks to Sermad and have been for a very long time. Sorry boys, you've been outed! Maybe this'll get your collective arses in gear...

There is the matter of a possible MCPS licence for limited availability, non-profit things like this. This is being looked into, will be costed and presented as an option. When all the pricings are in, we'll present all the options and vote on them - voting on this is limited to the track contributors, as it's them who'll be stumping up equal shares of the production costs.

That's pretty much it. Hadrian & Si, please hurry with them records, is getting impatient, and when he gets mad, he goes from to

    Hi Nick

Would be happy to oblige with some artwork. Once the track order is sussed, send me all the info you'll need to go on there and I'll turn it around as soon as I can.

    Cheers,

    Mattyboy

hade, sie - if you're coming to next month's brillo, just bring the records. either sermad or i will be there (or both&#33 and we can record 'em for you.

also, without wishing to be a nutter, how do production costs stack up when comparing pressing this on CD and pressing it on vinyl?

if CD's easier and cheaper, let's just do that, but if there's a marginal difference between getting vinyl done at GZ and CDs, then wouldn't our lot prefer vinyl?

don't want to slow this slothful project down any further, just asking a question...

I would suggest that some of our experiences of getting vinyl pressed would indicate that this could *really* slow this whole process down...

              That's Big Dogs Bollox guv!

Serms has had my track since last year - I think he'd said it was OK in the other post. I wouldn't mind it back though !

I demand a full written apology for trying to pass on the blame - Mr Chaiman!

I didn't even know Sermad had your record, or Fryer's for that matter. He didn't tell me, so I'm officially passing the buck on to him!

So, just Hadrian's then, due on Feb 09 maybe? (next Brillo)

And it's deffo CD only, vinyl's just taking the piss IMO, and hugely expensive and I'm not humping 500 records down to Brillo...! This is just a simple mixtape type thing, even the MCPS licence will slow things down, so that may not happen either, checking it out now...

                  Ooops!

                  Guilty as charged.

I will bring said record down to the next Brillo.

Ed - I'll bring that trade for you as well.

Hutton report on the Brillo comp just in: Everyone involed has been exonerated of fabricating intelligence to make claim that WME (weapons of mass entertainment) could be employed within 45 minutes, rather than 45 months - we can't help it if our collective Brillo intelligence doesn't stray further than knowing which charity contains a copy of minty Cozy Powell 45 and if anyone's moaning about how long this is all taking, they can fuck right off. Now that's what I call a whitewash!
