No worries! Some of the 'western' style fonts look quite nice in a block print style - you can always cut out individual letters and knock them out of square by a few degrees, and chop a few bits out here and there ...

I found some 60's style mac fonts a while ago, some were shareware, but they were pretty cool.
Think I got them here: http://www.freemacfonts.com/cfonts.htm but I might be wrong. One was called 'hendrix', another was 'butterfield'

Some nice hand-drawn / cartoony styles here: http://www.pizzadude.dk/freefonts.html

    EDIT : here's the hendrix one : http://www.fontcraft.com/scriptorium/hendrix.html

and the collection from whence it came (eh?) - the butterfield trial version is there too : http://www.fontcraft.com/scriptorium/psychedelic.html

Anyway - might be useful, might not

Thanks guys, long time no see John!

Yeah, I've been checking out a few old soul posters on ebay. I'm gonna try and get that sort of quirky, sketchy, fucked up printing block kind of 60s look... Whether I succeed is another story...

    Hi Nick

If you can get hold of a copy of Paul Grushkin's book 'The Art of Rock' (quite often in reference libraries) there are some good soul revue-style posters near the front. My copy's in the office - I could do you some scans on Monday and send them to you if you don't have any luck otherwise. There are some great 60's psychedelic boogaloo posters online at http://www.salsamagazine.com/ - not sure if they'd be any help...

    Old 60s funk gig posters

I've got to put together a A3 poster for the upcoming New Master Sounds gig in Stoke Newington this April and I figured the best way to utilise my non-existent Photoshop/Quark skills would be to gawp at some old James Brown and the like gig posters and flyers from back in the late 60s etc.

Anyone know if some of these posters can be viewed somewhere online?

    Many thanks!
Working...
