I always assumed to show off the newfangled stereo recording technology, but possibly just to copy the success of Ferrante & Teicher as well?

But did he actually have two pianos, tuned differently or something, or just double-track the one? Anyone know?

nowhere on those album covers does it say 'ronnie aldrich PLAYS two pianos'. it only says he's GOT two pianos. maybe one was in the shed as a spare or something.

I remember posing this question way back on my first chart ever (it's not archived anymore). I have two theories:

1) He does spectacular juggles live.
2) He only has one piano and they just pan it from left to right occasionally.

...also, there's a pretender out there with a really strange name that starts with Z who has either four or eight or sixteen pianos, I don't remember exactly. (I only know of this guy by seeing a small ad for it on the back of another LP that I didn't buy... pretty sure I didn't dream it though).

More pianos = more party, as we all know.
