  • Up! the psycho mellow

    Hey Vultures,

been rediscovering this brilliant compilation from Schema records lately. Alot of tracks from Sylvester and De Wolfe lp's including the always gorgeuous HOT HEELS by Barbara Moore.
We all know about this track, but what about the group PSYCHEGROUND which features two long funk jams. It says the tracks are from LUPUS records. Was this another library label? Anyone know who this group was??

    God bless Fatso.

Yes, I believe it's an Italian library label. The Pyscheground LP is incredibly rare. I've see it only once and that was on the bay several months back. If memory serves right it went for $375. The two tracks on Up! are excellant.

I believe Gian Piero Reverberi was behind the session. GPR put out the well-known surf-sitar tune Sequence Six and the Timer LP on Pausa USA to name a few.

There is also a vol. 2 which contains some good psych-beat tunes by The Revelations (Soul III and Lively)

i had this lp, it's very nice and rare. 375$ is a good price - i've seen it go for 500$

strange cover tho. bad drawing of a guy with a beard!?

        hey Iueke,

what was the  rest of the PSYCHEGROUND lp like then??

I keep seeing on DUSTYGROOVE website that Up! The Psycho Mellow Vol.3 is coming out but thats been promised for a number of years now. Is Schema records still going??

Volume two is brilliant. Love that track from POST COMBUSTION called "Stictly for Beat" (I think). And the tracks from REVELATIONS lp. Was this another library session?

          hi soundsville

i never heard the comp maybe the best 2 tracks are on it. both are really long (6-8m), one is kind prog with a great break beat, the other is a sort of modal prog jazz thing in 3/4 time with vibes. i should have a recording somewhere, if so i'll post some mp3s. The rest is dull.

          i sold it to Gerald
