• Soft machine go to the library

Apparantly the Soft Machine did an album of library music called Rubber Riff. Sounds like a potentially interesting meeting of worlds. Or maybe its crap. Any of you experts know what the inside sotry is?
Enthusiastic vagueness passes for scholarship in the twilight world of the disc-jockey.

love to hear that. Theres a french lp on TELEMUSIC called MAXI MUSIC which really sounds like the Soft machine - even some scat vocals that sound like Wyatt. They certainly were in France alot at the time.

any of you hear the lost CAN library track.

on the suject of Library rock star lps. anyone got a copy of the Jean Michel Jarre lp on US CINEMUSIC - very good electro pop i've been told.

is it just Hugh Hopper, some others Softies involved?

There's another one, also on De Wolfe: 'Push Button' by 'Rubba'. All tracks by Mike Ratledge and Karl Jenkins of Soft Machine. Good range of late '70s electronic styles on it. Presumably they did that other one as well.

talking of the Softies...I do quite like the 'Planet Earth' LP, with Ratlidge on keys...sounds like they were all well down to their uppers at the end of the decade there, taking any old session!!
still looking for the Rollercoaster 'wunderin' LP too, which might well be more Softs, but what i heard of it does not demand the spuffing of the huge sums asked...

Is that Karl Jenkins the same one who does that horrible 'Adiemus' music off Classic FM/endless TV ads? Pah, give me Rubba any day. If you'll pardon the expression.
