I have a polydor sampler with a tasty track (can't remember the title..) by Sweet Soul Orch. It's credited to Gray, from 1973. Any info about who they are?
thanks
Again, if it's a UK thing it's highly likely to be composed and played on by Steve Gray, piano and keys player, strings arranger and composer, who more and more appears to have had many strings to his bow. Geddit?!!
Let him have the lot for £2.00 - we were only going to throw 'em out anyway...
A great composer is our Steve. He's been there, done that, and got the t shirt to prove it. Be warned tho' his music is bloody prolific and his compositions adorn most of the usual library labels and many other commercial lp's. And all kinds of styles of music to boot.
Yep, Sermad's bang on the money with those two, i like a lot of his mellower stuff tho' as well. Perfect for those 'sunday morning' moments whatever they are.......
Quote[/b] (sermad @ Mar. 16 2004,22:31)]He did do some classic funky stuff though. Check out 'prototype' on hudson and 'great day' on dewolfe.
Sermad - sorry to be finnicky but Steve Gray is on neither of those De Wolfe's!
For Steve Gray (library-wise) I'd reccomend -

It's the theme from the TV series of choice for kids off sick, 'Paint Along With Nancy', and I'm desperate to find out what it is. It sounds a bit like one of Steve's, so if anyone knows what it is, I'd love to know!
On the commercially available front, I love Steve's composition 'Mellow Brass' on the Pye 'Rogero's Brazillian Brass', and his version of 'Wives and Lovers' on the Fontana 'A Woman In Love' LP is nice as well.
