    The New mercedes commercial
The songs sounds alot like a mix of Roy Budd (diamonds) and Lalo Schifrin (bullit), but I'm wondering if this is new music or not? Some of you might know.
I kind of connect it with the music to the ps2 game "the getaway", only much better.

i'm not sure if I was watching the correct one but it doesn't sound like either---well, the bassline sounds like it was lifted from 'Diamonds' but that's it.

If you have some kind of popupfilter, you might have to disable it and then press slk webspecial and a video popup opens. I'm having some problems opening it up now myself, I only get a mercedes logo.

I guess it's a new track made by someone to try to sound like the theme from bullit, the arrangements and sound sounds pretty much identical (but then again this is a low quality internet video).

Ah, you were right. Shut down the anti pop up and got the ad. For once, the budd/lalo style music is spot on. very good job indeed. Well done Merx for actually having some vision!

Sounds like it's newly produced, maybe something from the acid jazz era?

Is it maybe from that new Roy Budd remix 12" - I was going to start a post asking if anyone had heard it and is it any good?

The impression I got was that it was made for the ad. Nicely done, influences are all there etc.

I know Espen Horne of Bobby hughes fame did a remix of the Get carter track for that Vigilante budd comp. But I doubt he's the guy behind this. It's too good

You mean the same music as on the Merc ad? I couldn't find any clips that sounded the same... Damn. Keep losing the music. Again, it's nicely done and sounds like it was done by a professional, if you know what I mean, rather than the guys behind the Budd remixes I can hear from the moviegrooves site, which are just loop type stuff, and unremarkable.

At the risk of being proven wrong and looking like a right div, the sound, samples etc don't sound Budd to my ears, even through the computer.  The arrangements don't sound Budd either, more Schifrin. It all sounds very clean too. I'd still say this was made by a composer, a real one, with a Bullitt style thriller in mind. Obviously a lot of money has been spent on this, enough to employ someone who writes scores etc, instead of a DJ with logic on his laptop.

I've not heard either the ad or the remixes but I guess guess I'll be giving the remix 12 a swerve now

i'd agree with nick on this one. there are a lot of specific schifrin touches in there, from the instrumentation, the way he uses the ride cymbal, percussion, flute melody, even a dischordant string or two near the start (dirty harry anyone?)

nick's theory sounds about right - maybe schifrin even did it himself. he's been asked to compose that sort of thing before pretty recently (funky stuff in his classic 70s style) for movies like money talks and rush hour, so maybe merc's paid for the real deal.

                          what/whoever it is, it's class...

No matter what I try, I just can't hear the damn thing. The HTML version does bugger all and the broadband version just takes forever to load and never really get there.

I'm eager to hear if it's from the last JTQ library CD which was all Schifrin influenced orchestral Bullit type stuff... very nice.
