Got "Easy Rider music from the flim Featuring Jon Penn"
from the charidy shop yesterday, It has an amazing cover of if 6 was 9 by Schroeder, (excuse my ignorance but i'm assuming it's John Schroeder). Does anyone know who plays on the song?
there's a couple of other decent tracks on there, an axelrod tune and the B side is Music from the Film "Che!" (Schiffrin) by the marleybone orchestra, who I've never heard of.

any info on this would be greatly appreciated,
(just thought, you should have a david dickinson smilie incase someone is wondering about the value of somthing?)

Cheers
Chris.

'If 6 Was 9' is in fact a Jimi Hendrix track. The hammond is great on that track - Lee reckons it's The Hawk and I reckon he's very possibly right. I like the Prunes cover on there too. As for the scoop, I reckon the ever-dependable Lord T is the man, since it's a Windmill release.

I'd never actually got round to listening to this... until now. My copy is on Beacon, and the label states it was arranged by Graham Walker, so it most probably is Mr Hawkshaw, and the guitar sounds very much like Alan Parker.

Was it the Marylebone Orchestra that did that swinging london LP with Soul Thing and all that. NEED THAT ALBUM!!!

Is that the Keith Mansfield Carnaby Street Pop Orchestra LP? It's got a few hits of the day covered and a bunch of Mr Mansfield's KPM tunes (including Soul Thing):

The original LP goes for pretty good money these days I think.

Err, no. I'm the one who got it wrong... The LP I was thinking of was the Carnaby Street Pop Orchestra. Need ***THAT*** album!!!

(Yes, I think it's KPM tracks, so don't really need it...)

Well one sold on ebay a few months back - hit around 30-40 quid. I gots me all the tracks on kpms already so its really a record-to-have-not-play thing.

Thanks for the info!

Thought it might be hawkshaw, very funky! I knew it was jimi, probably should of been a bit clearer there.

Didn't know the axelrod one was the prunes tho.

I think LBDJ is right on the money as I saw one in (In)toxica for 75 back in March. This is the one with the white cover and a 'fisheye' lens shot of Carnaby Street right? or something like that?

But... I would hope that a little fishing would catch many things cheaper than Intoxica asks. IMO it's fair to say that with them you're paying a premium for not getting your hands (or mouse) a little dusty.

No offence to intoxica but their prices are top top whack.
