Yes, I recall raising my eyebrow at thirty notes for "Moog Groove" for one.

No-one ever told me what happened when his site was hacked either. Perhaps it loaded up an ad for 'net porn too lurid for this motley lot of handbag-clutchers to describe.

I've always found he gives good trades prices.

Mind you, I've had a few condition issues, as he never lists this. To give his his due though he's always taken stuff back with no quibbles.

Fair play with regard to pricing, but then he's a specialist dealer - what do you expect?
He also contributed songs for the Jim Henson movie vehicle 'Muppets From Space'.

Any dealers who do set sales these days deserve respect, though you are always going to get some anomolies with wild fluctuations.

Also the thing with such a specialist dealer is you get so much good stuff in one shop/site. You don't have to wade thorugh tonnes of crap / unrelated stuff to browse through...

Jazzman is pretty reasonable actually. He had a well known library for £175 and it was going for £250 on ebay at the time.

And any guy that does all the reissues he has done is a saint in my book.

Yep, he's alright by me too. (Ditto for Mark Res too who also seems to attract the same criticism). We all know our onions on here and maybe we can get lucky some of the time but if you're after something in particular and it's not turning up for 50p, who you gonna call? The bottom line is that they're in business and if their prices were too rich for us punters they'd go out of business.

(Plus, as Sermad says, full marks for the reissues, especially for doing them legitimately).

It's not a fucking charity shop, so what do you want him to do? If you don't like his prices, then don't pay them. It's as easy as that.

Nah, I haven't tried getting the joins flush yet. Just sick of people whining about things that no-one forces them to do.

I'm with Manzo: if you think it's not worth the £££, you don't buy from 'em. As my Dad used to say, 'stuff's worth whatever somebody's going to pay you for it when you want to sell it'. Mind you, he also said 'it's a bit black over Bill's mother's house' and 'it's not fair, it's wakes', and I never worked what he meant with either... Point is that you get things cheap in charities (when you do) because you put in the hours rummaging through crap to find it, time that if you priced it by the hour and then factored in all the 50p's you spend on stuff that turns that turns out to be chuff (& your booter petrol, mental energy, multiple nervous breakdowns etc) would actually scare the crap out of you... Uh, and stripping off woodchip that's been painted in waterproof vinyl paint is the worst... I've got a whole house of that to look forward to this summer.

Stripping woodchip with paint over the top is not my favourite job either. Did three rooms of it at my flat before I sold it. The worst of all was removing artex. from the walls of the hall with a steamer. It took 3 weekends of all day work, with the artex turning back into paint and then sticking to averything and anything in its path.

Then, when the surveryor came 'round to survey the place for the people who were buying it fro me, he mentioned that artex of that age was full of asbestos - 'I hope you used a mask when removing all that'. Doh

Anyway, records was it ? You're right Wayne, if you count up the hours you've spend gaining the knowledge and finding the stock, then the price of *any* record that you sold or traded would be astronomical. I don't have to make a living from the limited amout of trading I do, but to cover all those costs *plus* the difficulties of obtaining items of the sort that were mentioned at the head of this thread ? Jeez, it can't be easy.
