A name that immediately springs to mind is Shawn Phillips, namely the Spaced Lp.

There's a nice comp on Harmless called 'Make Music' which came out a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the above but I've already got them apart from the 'Spaced" lp, will check that out. Looking for tracks with a slightly psyche/folk/funk edge. I'm familiar with stuff like 50ft Hose, Annette Peacock, The Trees (nice intros but lame lp IMHO), is anyone up on this area.

It's a bit obvious, but have you checked Headless Heroes of the Apocalypse? I think that album has that kind of sound.

About your question:
I love Annette Peacock. I've seen her live once and she blew me away.

thank you sir - personally I'd recommend the sequel 'As We Travel' as well, but I would, wouldn't I?

There was a thread on this a few moons ago, could still be in the history somewhere.

John Martyn "Stormbringer" springs to mind (again).

A name I remember seeing mentioned in that old thread was John Renbourn, though I don't recall which LP(s) - certainly not all of them, I've only found naff ones.

McDonald & Giles S/T is arguably that kind of sound. Arrangements are a bit too big to qualify as "folk" though perhaps.

I don't think anyone's mentioned the 'Folk Funk Flavors' comp yet. I got mine off Lee after the last folk funk discussion and it's been played to death and I've done a ton of copies for people. It's a cracking album.

because it's a dodgy bootleg?
