Anyone know who this guy is? He steals blurbs from other peoples auctions (several from mine) and websites, steals audio links from places like Record Kingz and Tunes.co.uk and generally profits from other peoples hard work. It's pretty fucked up.

It's a bit snide, but it was always going to happen and he's by no means the only one. If I notice someone's nicked my blurb, I just send them a sarky mail and let them know they're a cunt.

Nothing worth getting worked up over though, there are bigger fish to fry. And really, it's only the next logical step from using each other's knowledge and tips. Who on here doesn't use the knowledge freely provided here to go and add to their collections? We probably do the same thing after seeing items listed on eBay that we'd not heard of. It's not that big a leap to simply cut and paste someone else's text to help you make a profit when we all use someone else's knowledge to similarly benefit.

Anyway, the genie's out the bottle on this one, so just chill. Do what I do, send a little mail and sit back knowing that they inevitably feel just a tiny bit ashamed.

Colin or Lee, had a great tale about someone using their blurb, down to details of the scratches on particular tracks. And someone else (I think this was Lee's story) selling a record that they'd sold them, using their spiel. And getting less for it than they paid.

There, I've totally ruined Lee and Col's anecdotes now.

As for Funky Serenity, I've bought records from him and he is a friendly seller and good to deal with. I didn't realising he was 'borrowing' though - that isn't a particularly polite way to behave without giving credit to your source.

Rich, you bought a record from him where he'd used one of my blurbs. I sent him an email for that one which ignored. I sent him an email this morning for his latest auctions where he's used a couple of different blurbs.

We all get knowledge from one another. I've certainly learnt lots from ebay auctions but nicking text and using it as your own is one step too far. As is direct linking to other peoples audio clips.

Where's the embarassment icon when you need it? That's just not cricket. I'd say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but that smelt of b.s. when I was using poster paints in primary school and it still stinks now.

i like the sellers who helpfully paste in huge reviews from AMG and elsewhere into the description. especially when the review tells you that the record in question is rubbish!

I think we are all abit guilty of these kind of things... we all share info that we read learned en heard from other people....
whitout always givin' credit.

still if they just cut and paste.... then it's an other story

...or the ones that give a mass detailed history on the actual artist or something...and all you wanna know is

I had someone ripping off all my sound samples for auctions by linking to the ones on my site. So I replaced them all with a f*cking slurping noise on loop from a porno. Best thing is you can't change that stuff in the description. Stiffed the kid good and proper.

Anyone else fancy taking advantage of the UK free listings day?

It's gonna be hard work getting anything listed with the football competing for attention!

But I'm gonna try. (Famous last words)

I should be listing some more bits and bobs later. Unless someone lures me out for I'm not a football person so a footy free pub would be nice.

As for Mr Serenity, I just think it's a matter of respecting other sellers. We're all into the same music. He knew it bothered me the first time he did it so why do it again? I won't lose any sleep over it though. A little public grumble plus a name and shame does the job fine. No where did I put all my copies of 'Hammond Gold'?
